    If I have to do it at home I use PhotoRec:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/desktop/file_recovery/testdisk.cfm

    Fortunately I have a friend who runs the data recovery facility used by all the law enforcement agencies in the state so I rarely have to do it myself. But aside from high end professional tools like he has PhotoRec is about as good as it gets.

    GLAD TO HEAR you got your files recovered.

    I was going to mention a program I use which works great and has always recovered back what I wanted, but I see you got your files back so just use that one instead.

    And as for your son..... SLAP HIM on the back of the head and ask him.
    WHAT IN THE WORLD was he thinking when he didn't use that brain of his and not check if any files were in the HDD before using it for his GAYBOX lol.
    Kids these days...... NO BRAINS whatsoever. LOL

    @BEJASUS,

    From where you heard about Minitool Data Recovery - Its Never worked in most of the cases. Two things can be possible, either you were promoting yourself or just wasting the members time.

    Though, if none of them is true, forgive my mistakes.
