shakezila: what error do you get when your trying to ftp? and you are using flashfxp right? sometimes static over dhcp makes a huge diffrense , also how are you networked? wired router or what?

and does your xbox glow green from the back when its connected to the cable?

you can press Y to see status if a connection is beind active durring ftp process

BUT you can also go to xbox hq .. they help out better TRUST ME ON THIS ONE .... and sid 4 came from the very own creator nknave and hes over there too ....

I am using flashFXP, and the error is simply that it cannont connect. my network is a wireless router for my computer that i am using right now (my laptop) and i direct connected my xbox to my pc using a crossover cable

 

does it glow green in the back? if not and the the stauts does not come out either then you might have a bad network adapter...

press Y to see if any ftp status is active... of course when your attemping this . again go to xbox hq 10+brains think more then 1

alot of times its network settings sometimes its hardware wires or bad network adapter.... go to xboxhq

 

yes it glows green in the back of my xbox, but for some reason it can't seem to get an IP address

 

Sounds like a software problem, like a firewall blocking it access, or network settings not configured properly.

ok, i managed to connect with flashFXP, so gus, can you try to guide me through the rest of the process

 

@gus yeah, i did everything and the reason i'm trying to unlock the HDD is to make a clone of it so i don't have to tie up my comp

 

onthedge: tie up your computer???? if you unlock a softmoded xbox you have a brick box.... what are you tryin to clone??? do it the correct way .. yes you would have to re mod it but your doing it the correct way , d/l xboxhdm.1.9 extract it put a clean ms dash on C put the eeprom.bin on eeprom folder burn iso run the iso on pc ( have pc hd removed) enter into xboxhd then build new hd from scrratch ( takes a min or so ) then after its done partitioning and formating restart it then go to xboxhd then 3 and lockhd -a and voila pop it back on xbox ... note theirs a space then - a ..

shakezila: your ip should appear on the tv screen once connected transfer ms dash from pc ( use my link under signiture) to C folder on xbox ... note you must extract it before transfering it .

 

gus, i tried to transfer that file (after i un-rared it) and it finished, so i reset my xbox and it does the same thing, then i connect to it again with flashFXP and it says the folder is empty, what am i doing wrong? i'm thinking about just burning AID and using that to install a fresh MS dash

ok, i'm still having a btch of a time with my xbox. basically, i tried to FTP my xbox BEFORE softmodding, and ever since it won't go on to regular internet, saying that it has a DNS error all the time. i can get some of my scripts from XBMX to get online, but everything else there's nothing, even when hooked up directly to internet connection. i don't know, is there a fail safe built into the xbox against FTP? i've tried everything, so u guys are my last hope.

 

you cannot ftp an xbox if its never been softmoded , unless you mean you were ftping while you were acessing linux , are you just having issues w/ xbl? then just change your settings > network > static to DHCP and that should fix MOST problems.....besides that theirs firewalls , settings , cables damged/broken and or xbox network adapter broken... alot of diffrent things

 

i've checked everything, and it only stopped working after i tried to FTP it. and no, i just tried it before doing anything. if not for being so cool, this xbox would really piss me off!!!!
