If I plug it out and in again - a broken-line light trails a square around the LED screen and then goes blank. After that there is no sign of any power.

I've tried running the firmware again but it doesn't seem to be recognising the connection. Tried it manually through COM1 but still nothing.

I even went as far as opening it up and seeing if anything was obviously wrong on the motherboard but didn't spot anything - though all I was looking for was something clearly knocked out of place as oppoesed to something more technical.

Never had any power problems before this so I'm a little confused, to say the least, as to why it's happened

Try a hard boot reset. Unplug the EV, hit download on the UFL, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in again. It may take a few attempts.

If the bootloader is corrupt you may need to jtag it. But try as I said above first.

    Thanks sc0user, I'll give it a try.

Excuse the ignorance but how do you jtag the bootloader? I'll try the other first though.

    Cheers.

You need a jtag kit about £15 and it come with instructions and all you need. I will give you a link to it, but try as I said above first no sense in wasting money just yet.

Sorry in advance if this has been dealt with - I have been looking through the threads on updating the EV Max V - I have not not updated before and am a complete novice and a bit nervous.
I don't have a laptop but have a pc so will need to bring the bx to the pc to run the update - but does the N*L cable need to be connected as well ?
Again, sorry if this is a stupid question

L71BT is most definitely the correct part number & if that is what you got then it is a "NULL Modem Cable"

When you get to stall situation, try disconnecting the power & connecting it up again quickly (Really quickly) It may take a few attempts.

The part number L71BT from maplins is as described by gman the correct cable, You may need to asign your ports/coms.If you have bought this cable please note it is the correct cable!

    Hi Lads.

I flashed several boxes over weekend all goin well. However, I just flashed folks box and done factory reset. All 13 TP's found & 138 channels on symbol rate 6887 (They on NTHell). But when I switched to SSP1 it still says "Plese wait, code updating...". Its been 30 mins now and still no change. Other boxes I flashed rolled after 30 secs. I checked and EMU is enabled. Any ideas? Box is genuine etc. As i said no probs in loading new software. Help!!

The firmware under my manu pic does make the boxes update quicker than the earlier firmware so try that, Mine updates in around 30 secs, Just make sure you click on the right one for your box, Other than that im unable to help,
