    Can somebody please answer my question so I can order me a new HDD

    useing shademans softmod, what is the largest HDD I can use?

    can I use this HDD?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148139

    Thanks

    I just softmodded my friends box. I decided to use the hotswap method instead of an auto installer. It went off without a hitch. I like this method of modding because you can backup the original HDD first, and then set it up like you want. You can also put all the original game saves back where they go. Now I'm gonna put a big HDD in it and suprise him with a media system that will blow his mind. XBMC rules

    You need to format the F drive. how did you format the hdd?

    @roadtrash
    First, the hdd is big but should be ok.
    Second, you need the eeprom. Then you are ok to follow this tut. Shademand will work on any hdd. Remember to format the F and G drive with xboxhdm.

    SUPER09 - Nope not a missing file, just still compressed for some reason. Go to (whereever you uncompressed xboxhdm)>xboxhdm>linux>isolinux and uncompress initrd.rar into the same folder and reburn. it fixed it for me.

    did you read the first page? ftp the whole C and E drive on Xbox to PC. Then make a boot disk for xboxhdm. So the bootdisk has C and E files and eeprom.bin

    Test the boot disk to make sure it boots when turn on PC.

    Set the jumper on 20GB hdd to Master. Then replace the PC's hdd with the 20GB. Turn on PC the boot disk will load up. Format 20GB, then copy data to hdd. When all done lock the hdd.

    Put 20GB hdd into xbox then turn on xbox. Xbox should load with no errors.

    okay so the way i got my box modded was i used the ndure through xboxhdm softmod to mod my stock drive first so i had the dash to backup my eeprom. then you can use the directions of this thread to build and lock your new drive. this way is nicer because it allows you to have a backup in case the upgrade fails, as well as get all you old saves. use of the xbox scene site was absolutly invaluable to me as well. this link should explain how to mod your stock drive.

    read this tut in full, understand it, and THEN attempt it. make sure before your burn your cd though that you go to (whereever you uncompressed xboxhdm)>xboxhdm>linux>isolinux and uncompress initrd.rar into the same folder, so that it will boot up right. im not sure why this NESSARY file was compressed lol but it was and that will keep you from having to burn a cd 10 times.
    one more note, be patient when hotswapping, keep trying. its very touchy but the results are worth it.
    post or feel free to message me with any other Qs

    ok got acces to my xbox via xboxhdm. For anyone trying this to unlock your hard drive boot computer with disk as soon as u turn computer on keep hitting the pause Break key intill the computer basicly stops loading the bios, now turn xbox on unplug ide cable from xbox right when the white Microsoft logo appears, then plug it into computer. Now hit any button on computer to continue boot. Thats what worked for me.
