Like I said previously, try ans stick to the Seage and Western Digital drives, they also come with a good warranty, 5 years for the Seagate!

Ok have fouind a different hdd , this time its a WD200BB just a 20GB hdd to get the process running & so I can see what its all supposed to look like when it works for me..

"Built" the new hdd partitions etc easy as..(actually takes a bit of time , but did it error free). reboot & go to lock & get the following, basically the same as before but 2 small changes..

well i have managed to build the hdd but go to lock it & end with a message :
    hdd serial & model #'s
    hdd key
    hdd p/w from eeprom

    **ready to attemp locking
are you sure you want to continue [y/n]?
    then...

    HDD serial #
    HDD F/W rev
    hdd model
    security supported YES
    security enabled no
    security locked no
    security frozen no
    security count expired no

    root@xbox-HDM:/2

what it going wrong this time please ??

the eeprom when opened matches the serial on my boxes bumb.. cant see what the problem is.
I have read & re-read the tuts over n over, but cant see what i missed.. (unless its just the hdd)

Make sure that the eeprom on the CD is all lowercase 'eeprom.bin'.

Also the command for locking is 'lockhd -a' (Note the space...)

OK , seems your on the money again with trouble shooting chunkhead..

The eeprom.bin file on my pc is lowercase , BUT the CD is in "CAPS".. what makes it do this & how do i get around the ISO changing to caps on the .bin file so I can lock the hdd ??

& yes , I'm up to speed with the "space" when locking ie : lockhd -a

I just checked with an iso file, mine doesn't do it!

I didn't burn the CD, but I had a look inside the iso and it was still lower caps!

I have "recreated" the ISO yet again & it still changes it to "caps".. is it possible to delete that file & replace it before burning ??
I tried to rename the file but it wont let me..

Scratch that, just found one of my XboxHDM cds and it's in capitals...

    So that's not your issue!

Crap, thought I had it, ok we'll get you happening...

I just had a re-read through your issue, but have you tried in the Xbox since you 'locked' it!?

The error code will tell us a lot about you problem! Sometimes the screen after the locking doesn't tell you much!

You can also restart XboxHDM and see if has a heap of errors while trying to load into the 'build' option. If it does, then it's locked!

    ;)

Ok, well at least we know it's not locked!

Where did you get your XboxHDM from? Was it my one from my software page?

Maybe you need a new version?

If the eeprom is there, it should just lock without issue! Maybe you just have a stupid HDD???

hey chunk, me again. different problem this time. i modded my other box with a 60gig and its all good. my comuter recognized the drive and i transferred files no problem. however, i want one for myself now and i went out and bought a 160 gig WD caviar EIDE drive and my computer wont recognize it. im running VHP. the computer sees the drive on my device manager and says the drivers are all set, but it wont show up under "my computer" i have a stock 250 gig hd that is split into 2, 111 gig drives. C and D. is my bios the problem? i cant find any support for an acer. should i just try a smaller drive?

You have to format it first dude!

Right Clcik on 'My Computer', click 'Manage', 'Disk Management'. You should then see your drive as unallocated space!

    Right click and 'Format'!

its not so bad. i guess. now, do you have a tut on where to put the emulators and how to set the rom paths up so that unleash x will recognize them and put them under the emulator tab as opposed to having to use the file explorer all the time?

Does anyone know if UnleashX formats to 32k clusters? I have a 400GB drive, and for some reason I cant get xbpartitoner to work and am paranoid about the whole cluster/size limit thing.

    OK ..

gave up on my "stupid hdd's" that I had & have built a new drive with an 80GB Hitachi.. easy as can be & softmoded no worries.

Gave me the partions of :
    C: 299 mb partition 2
    D: DVD
    E: 4881 mb partition 1
    F: 70882 mb partition 6
    G: partition 7
    X: 749 partition 3
    Y: 749 partition 4

does this look all 100% correct ??
    should there be a partiton 5 ?? or "Z" ??

    all help appreciated..
