Skimmed through the posts but didn't see an answer: Has anyone got this to work using Vista? Can't seem to get the AR software to recognize either the AR mem reader or USB. My Xbox does recognize the USB and the AR mem card, but can't transfer the softmod files using 1.40 or 1.41. Even when I try to manually edit device info into the xbreader.inf file, Vista says file is not a 32bit file.

i have done the softmod using my nokia n95 as cardreader with xbox first xbox format the mini SD card (2GB) using n95, Then i used a "normal cardreader" with ar and copy the files because ar dont work with nokia n95. Later used my nokia to transfer te files to xbox :)

ar 1.40 - 1.41 or other wont work with my cardreader ONLY ar 1.05 !

and you must edit youre maxdrive and install it with vista (using usbview)

My sandisk 4gb dont work, my normall cardreader dont work with xbox because xbox wont format it and AR dont work with nokia n95 thats why i used 2 cardreaders 1.nokia n95 as cardreader 2.normall cardreader.

so you can try AR verion 1.05...

And sorry for my english ;)

That's what I'm getting at - When I edit xbreader.inf and try to manually install, Windoze Vista says "not a 32bit driver" and automatically reverts to some generic USB portable media driver. It will not let me use the .inf file, and thus, I can not get AR to recognize either a thumbdrive or the supplied 8mb mem card. If I could just get AR to recognize one or the other, i'd be streaming media by now. Just one more thing about Vista to add to the peeve list. I have no more XP boxes around here. Might have to go to a buddy's house.

There is an option with vista above the driver section see picture, im using W7 64BIT so i must install windows xp on another hard drive to let it work - Or try another maxdrive from another ar version maybe that will work?:

    Ok guys!!!

I have had no luck with finding a USb drive thats compatible with the xbox...i did find that my PSP works...i pluged my PSP into the xbox controller port using a controller cable to a USB port (homemade btw). My xbox recognises the PSP and says something like it wasn't functioning properly and it has been erased!!! i can then see it when i open up the memory icon on the xbox! then i unplugged the PSP from the xbox and plugged it into my laptop, my laptop then says this drive is not formatted would you like to format it...i click yes!!! then i put some music onto it and plugged it back into my xbox and then the xbox gives me the same message as before (it was not functioning properly it has been erased) this deltes the music i had on the PSP...??? how do i get over this problem??

    Any comments/answers/tips are greatly appreciated...

    Sam

    P.S sorry if im a bit of a N00b...

Firsy you must read the first page of this topic...

is your xbox softmodded or not?
if so, then you can just ftp to your xbox s much easier than the annoying flash drives.

and you cant copy music into your if your xbox isnt softmodded.

    @bredhead,
After you format the memory card in your XBOX, do not format it on your computer. When your laptop asks you if you want to format it, say NO! Read the guide again, you did not pay attention:

I think that v1.05 will wok whit your usb stick,so try as first v1.05 and install your maxdrive (the inf file) using usb view replace the "idvendor" and the "idProduct" of your own usb mass storage, and then it can be installed.
So you must edit the maxdrive with your usb stick hardware information to let it work.

If v1.05 doesnt work uninstall everything and try another version.
And sometimes i forgett to save the file so save it then it must be work.

Okay, even tried to go into the Windows registry in Vista and fix the driver, no joy. I'm pretty sure whoever posted that they got it to work modifying the xbreader.inf file was doing it in XP and "assuming" it would work in Vista. Bottom line, don't plan on using Vista. I finally found an XP box and moved the files first try, no problems.

Also an aside - nknave SID installer is the sheet. A monkey could install the softmod using it. Kudos!
