I am trying to backup Dvds with Nero. I have decrypted them, and am ready to burn a compilation by putting the necissary files into the Video_TS folder. Then when I click burn I get: DVD Video Files Sorted Caching of Files Started Caching of files completed Burn Process Started at 2.4x (3,312 KB/s) HP DVD Writer 200j Specified Host adapter invalid HP DVD Writer 200j/H1 T0 Burn Process Failed at 2.4x (3,312 KB/s) I don't really know what that means. I guess it means that this hardware doesn't actually burn DVDs and I am out of luck. If you could let me know what the problem is, and what i can do to fix the situation I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
when i turn on nero it does say that nero has a known compatibility issue with this version. I will try an update
I got another failure message Hp DVD Writer 200j Unspecified Target error Generated DVD high compatitbility border HP DVD Writer 200j invalid field in command HP DVD Writer 200j Could not perform end of disc-at-once Burn process failed
right, lets have a look at your nero log. it's in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, and all burns good and bad are appended to it. It's quite easy to differentiate each log section in there, so copy paste a section, ie last section, minus serial number which is usually at start of each section and begins with '1A21' or similar

- i've found references to a firmware rev of 1.72 so far , but dunno where from yet. plus i'm more concerned with this -
right - getting nearer - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/75920 it seems the 200i is the same as the 200j, i'll see if that makes it easier to find firmware
sorry, was still looking. just found what i think it is - that should do it, there's a quicker way - in windows explorer, right click on your burner, go into properties /then click on recording tab, and untick 'Enable CD recording on this drive'

well we're progressing at least. Next i think you need to sort that firmware out as there's not one mention of any media brand in there, ie your drive doesn't even know what type/brand of discs it's trying to write to
