   Since I couldn't find many threads on this particular DVD writer, I made one..... So..I have a question.
   
   Can this DVD drive write onto DVD-R media? Because I downloaded the latest firmware and it still won't recognize the blank DVD-R disk I put into it. Helpies?

   nope & this is from hp specs on drive
   Media write compatibility
   CD-R recordable, CD-RW rewriteable, CD-RW high speed rewriteable, DVD+RW rewritable, DVD+R recordable
