    hi
I have a Lite-On LVW5025GHC+ DVD recorder and was wondering if it would be able to play the HR HDTV XVid TV releases.
    These are usually :

A higher quality version of the show, usually about 544p (960x544)

According to the spec of the player on the link below it will play
    TV Resolutions 480i • 480p • 576i • 576p

    http://www.uknetguide.co.uk/Shoppin...ecorder___HDD_Recorder-Pid-30473028-Spec.html

Only have a CRT TV at the moment.

    Any help gratefully recieved

    Avo

Most likely it supports 720x576 max (hence the specs only mentioning 576p). Which would technically be higher quality anyway since vertical resolution is more important. You could resize to 720x544 and encode with a PAR of 227:169. That is assuming your player can handle non 1:1 PAR's.
