wussup !, k, ftp(program) ip = xbox ip (which is >192.168.0.46< on mine)
xbox gateway = computer's ip (>192.168.0.1< on mine)
subnet mask = >255.255.255.0< on both computer and xbox
my connection method = crossover cable (directly from ethernet port behind pc ----to---- xbox)yes light turns green behind xbox and yes im turning xbox on after i plug in cable.
my questions are...#1: if u find something im doing wrong up there ^^^ let me know.
#2: do u have to load the evox dashboard yourself or will it load by itself ? if so, when ?
#3: on my xbox if i go to xbox settings...network...NOT evox, i can also change ip addresses and gateway / sub.mask etc., do i mess with that or only with evox ?

hey im having trouble getting all my xbox's harddrive contents to show up on FlashFXP, heres what im using, any help would be grand, ive been trying for ages.
    Xbox
    IP: 192.168.1.101
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Dafault gateway: 192.168.1.100

PC(this is what appears when i go to the TCP/IP properties for my network card, is that what i should be changing?)
    IP: 192.168.1.100
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

And in flash FXP i set the IP to 192.168.1.101
    password xbox, username xbox

Then i run it, with all firewalls and anti-virus turned off and it comes up with this!
    WinSock 2.0 -- OpenSSL 0.9.7g 11 Apr 2005
    [R] Connecting to MY XBOX -> IP=192.168.1.101 PORT=21

    [R] TYPE A

hmm in smartFTP it comes up with
    SmartFTP v1.5.990.26
    Resolving host name "192.168.1.101"
    Connecting to 192.168.1.101 Port: 21

220 Please enter your login name now.
    USER xbox
    331 Password required for xbox.
    PASS (hidden)
230 User xbox logged in , proceed.
    SYST

    502 feat is not implemented.
    TYPE I
    200 Type set to IMAGE.

    502 rest is not implemented.
    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory
    PORT 192,168,1,100,9,40

it has the same FEAT and REST error, i have no idea what they mean
after a while it then comes up with

    425 Can't open data connection to 192.168.1.100:35603
Automatic failover of data connection mode from "Active Mode (PORT)" to "Passive Mode (PASV)".
    PASV
    502 pasv is not implemented.
    NOOP
    502 noop is not implemented.

and yeh keeps repeating the NOOP thing then! So frustrating, thanks for the help anyhoo

Try going to TOOLS--SETTINGS in smartFTP

and then click on the connection tab and make sure "send FEAT command" is checked ....

try that and lemme know if that works..

you sure you have all the IP settings correct on both the XBOX AND THE PC...and that you are using a CROSSOVER ETHERNET CABLE not just a normal one...?

yeh it was already checked, but when i unchecked it, the error went away! It still has the other errors though. Im certain its ther right cable, ive used it before, playing xbox on the net, and im pretty sure my friend has the same cable and it worked on his comp.

And im not sure about the IP setting, they r what i said before. But im not sure where I change the IP settings on the PC, i went into properties for my network card, and then properties for the TCP/IP option, then changed the IP adress to what i previously said. I havnt got anything for the DNS server addresses. Does that sound right????

An easy way to check if you have a "crossover cable" is to look at both ends of the cable and if they both match its not a crossover if both ends look different (as in the order the colors go) then it is a crossover

I always get the REST error...but it still allows me to function the connection...I have no idea what else could be going wrong w/ your setup...have you tried toggling between passive mode on/off?

Yes the IP address must be slightly different on the pc to the xbox, its like 2 people trying to share the same seat in a cinema.

Change the ip on 1 of them (pc will be easier) to 192.168.1.201
the 201 can be anything from 1 to 255 (i think).

    Hope this helps

Are you using the right cable?

You need a Cat5 RJ45 crossover (or crossed) network cable.
These are used to connect 2 pc's or pc to laptop etc..

You may have a patch cable (sometimes called 'straight' cable), these are used to connect pc (or laptop or xbox) to a network hub.

    Hope this helps.

ps. make sure your firewalls are disabled or it might mess things up.

Iv'e read through countless forums on FTP-ing the xbox, and have gotten the easy way with a crossover cable to work. Problem is I dont like undoing the eternet constantly, and do have a nub hooked up already. I know the computer can find the box (XBC works fine and locates it easily) I want to permenantly hook it up through the hub, but cant get any ftping to work for it.

Running evox on the box, xp on the comp.
tried setting the xbox default gateway to the computer ip, but that was unsuccessful... Cant leave my comp IP set to anything diff, as college student hooked into a res-net that auto assigns the ip.

Just looking for a way to be able to stream to and from the box, move files around, and play on the internet and NOT have to switch over to the crossover cable if possible....

    Thanks in advance

I've read most of these posts and am having trouble also. Is the only way to connect to a soft modded box via a crossover cable, or can I plug it in my network switch, assign it an ip address and then ftp in to it?
