I have no clue anymore.. i tried burning an audio cd with nero.. illegal medium (before everything worked fine).. i tried again..same thing. switched to burn at once- another coaster.. switched to ahampoo cd recorder- same sh1t!!!

i made about 10 coaster, trying DIFFERENT cd types, differnt programs, different mp3 files..same thing.. burns about 5-6 songs and then cuts off..

what in the world is going on? input greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Sounds like an issue with your drive.

    Make/model? Firmware version?

So it's a relatively older burner, yes?

The drive may be on it's way out. You can verify whether this is the case or not by trying the drive in another PC :)

Try extracting the audio to your hd m8? There might be some type of audio cd protection on it. Use A-Ray Scanner, scan the audio cd m8.If you can't extract the audio files to your hd then there's audio cd protection on it.

there is no protection.. it is the burner.. what happened is i decided to hook up another burner to my comp.. i did, but then they both worked slow..i removed the second one..but first one is still fvcked.

cd's work in the burner..just the writing seems to be fvcked.. its ALWAYS SAME THING.. abotu 6 songs done..then crash.. could it be i set some setting somewhere wrong? drivers? what can i do?

The drive may be in PIO mode. Try this:

    http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/IDE-DMA.mspx

If the doesn't work it may help to unistall the drive through Device Manager following these steps:

    Go to Device Manager >

Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >

Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >

Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.

Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.

If that doesn't work try the same steps but uninstall the IDE controller instead of the drive.
