I DOWNLOADED THIS .ISO FILE.WHAT DO I DO?(guide)

Im New to the forums, mainly i need help with this emu thingy, anyway, i am using Daemon Tools to emulate a halo ISO

when i run the .EXE file to play it says(like many others)"Please insert the Correct Halo CD-Rom,select OK and restart application"-Complete Quote

I've tried 5 of those CD directory helper thingies like u said, even the one u suggested, nothing...

I even found one that gave me the blue screen of death, the "starForce Nightmare", im still tryin them out, help me...am i using them wrong...i follow their directions...

It's just the same with nearly every game you download, the copy is good for installing, but then the game is clever enough to realise you don't have a disk, you'll need a "no-cd crack" for it, which is where i stop

Ive mounted my .ISO file with Daemon tools. Installed perfectly. I click on the game to play and then the menu comes up. "play" "option" "quit" I click play and then the menu exits out with an hourglass like it's loading, but never does. Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it??

hey all, not sure if I am posting in the right section, but I downloaded an ISO file, it's about 3GB in size, used Nero to burn it to a "Make yoru own DVD Video"..and it burned fine, but no audio...any idea why?...thx

try burning at a slower rate, but other wise get imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/) and burn the iso with that application, nero is very buggy i constantly see forums with the topic "nero wont" nero doesn't"

im sry but im just fed up with nero, i wont have anything to do with it anymore!

Just a suggestion:

As someone new to daemon tools it would have helped some to clarify that you were using Daemon Tools Light as opposed to Daemon Tools Pro Free Version. In their product comparison chart it indicates that Light dose not include a GUI. It took me a little while before I realized no GUI did not mean no System Tray Agent.

In retrospect, a stuped mistake on my part, but I would hate for someone to download the Pro Free version and get the add ware with it. (The Pro Free version dose not give you an option to not install the add ware.)

Just some friendly feed back I hope. Thanks for the guide.

Okay i have a question. I have backed up more than 1000 dvd s and cd s mp3 . never used iso. what is it for, beside being able to mount it to a virtual drive. If thats all its for why not just copy vob s to hard drive and play them with nero show time or another player. Other than the virtual thing is there any benifit to it?

What are the benefits to using .iso files?

* No CD/DVD media to storage, search or get scratched
* Quick access to optical media because you don't spend as much time searching for it as you might your optical media
* Higher performance reading of your optical media - reduce the time to install your operating system & applications Share media between people (assuming everyone has a license, of course)
* Excellent for remote access - when the server is in the data center and, well, you "aren't" You can download them over the Internet, many times

ISO files can be created with a number of different programs. Usually, these are the same applications you use to burn CD/DVD disks. A list of ISO creators can be found here- Wikipedia.org - ISO Image

Once I create my ISO images, I prefer to mount them to the local Host OS using the Daemon Tools. With Daemon Tools, you can generate a number of virtual CD/DVD drives, then mount your virtual media (your ISO files). These ISO files appear just as if you had inserted a CD/DVD into your computer. However, VMware Workstation and Server have this feature built-in and you don't need ISO mounting tools like these.

As is typical for disc images, in addition to the data files that are contained in the ISO image, it also contains all the filesystem metadata, including boot code, structures, and attributes. All of this information is contained in a single file. These properties make it an attractive alternative to physical media for the distribution of software that requires this additional information as it is simple to retrieve over the Internet.

Some of the common uses include the distribution of operating systems, such as Linux or BSD systems, and LiveCDs. The ease of Internet transmission also makes the .iso format a common format for distributing copies of video games over peer-to-peer networks, such as BitTorrent or DirectConnect.

Most CD/DVD authoring utilities can deal with ISO images: producing them either by copying the data from existing media or generating new ones from existing files, or using them to create a copy on physical media. Most operating systems (including Mac OS, Mac OS X, BSD, Linux, and Windows with Microsoft Virtual CD-ROM panel) allow these images to be mounted as if they were physical discs, making them somewhat useful as a universal archive format.

Console emulators, such as ePSXe and PCSX2, and many other emulators that read from CD/DVD, are able to run ISO or BIN/CUE (and other similar formats) instead of running directly from the CD drive. Better performance is achieved by running an ISO since there is no waiting for the drive to be ready and the hard drive I/O speed is many times faster than the CD/DVD drive. Along with the ability to avoid disk failure (Shattering) which may be expensive to rectify.

Hey, i have this little problem here, i tried to do this with PowerISO, but it didnt work, and i looked up this site and found this thread a good idea.
I followed this thread, but it doesnt work, i downloaded, (if i can say that :S) Star wars kotor 2 from piratebay, and tried everything, then i tried your program, im stuck at second cd, im installing, help? Thanks!

Download daemon tools to mount the files.(daemon tools works only on pc). http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5
when installing Daemon Tools, remember to uncheck toolbar installation ;-) if i remember right, toolbar contains whenU adware.. and who needs toolbars on IE =) we use Firefox

once the program installed, you will need to reboot your computer for it to work.I really insist you do because without doing so, the program will not work.then come right back to the guide to continue.

now that you've installed daemon tools,you should see this in your tray.(it can be green red...any color)

now,right click the icon for daemon-tools in the tray bar and go to Virtual CD/DVD-ROM > Set number of devices > 1
Now all you are going to need to do is locate the .iSO file and let daemon tools do it's work.

Right click daemon tools once again,go to "Virtual CD/DVD-ROM" then go on the device and click on mount image.
For now things should look like this:

All that's left to do is to locate the .ISO file and double click it.

You're all done.
If nothing happens just go to "My computer" and double click on the virtual drive you mounted.

SKIP this next part if everything has worked fine and you didn't get an error message.

Sometimes the program recognizes that it's a fake drive and gives you an error message saying"please insert correct cd",in this case you will need to use a program that will hide the fact that it's a fake drive.

Thanks for the post really helpful, I have one problem yes i'm a noob at this and so after i got daemon tools to work that was fine no troubles there but now that i have the image mounted what do i play the game with? the autostart thing pops up and it askas what i want to use but i dont know what to use is there any program i need to play the game?
Please help!
