well, s3a, it would be better to pay less for good devices, but I don't know how. I need Intel core 2 duo anyhow. Do you have a better idea?
Ok now, I have decided over the following parts: Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM DVD: NEC DVD-Writer ND-3550 IDE black OEM DVD+R/+RW/DVD-R/-RW (Dual layer) Monitor: LG 19" LCD L1919S-SF TCO-99 Silver 1280x1024, 8ms, 1600:1, VGA RAM: Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 1024MB CL5 Kit w/two matched CM2X512A-6400 Dimm's MotherboardGigabyte GA-965P-DS4, P965, Socket-775, Firewire, ATX, GbLAN, DDR2, 2xPCI-Ex16 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz Socket LGA775, 2MB, BOXED m/fan Power Suply: Hiper power suplyATX 480W black, 14dB, Type-R, 120mm Fan, 2xSATA, 20/24pin Video Card: Asus GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDRII Silent, PCI-Express, Tv-Out/DVI-I/HDTV, Retail The cost is now 1420 $. It is 320 dollars more than my budget. The video card is the best "cheap" card I could find here in Sweden. I hope that I get feedback about these parts, are good or not? Suitable enough for good overclocking? Thx alot...
For that money the GPU is quite naff. The PSU is excellent, I had one, but if you're only going for an E6400, a rival AMD X2 will compete, for less money and with DDR1 RAM (cheaper). An X2 4600+, Asus A8N-SLi board and DDR1 RAM WILL PERFORM THE SAME. Only the E6600 and above are the Core 2 Duos that actually best AMD at anything.
What do you mean by "GPU is naff"? (Sorry, English is not my native language) Maybe I am wrong, but the first time I hear this...But I have heard that E6400 can be overclocked very easily and to a high speed... So my question is: Which one can be overclocked most, just using stock cooling: E6400 X2 4600+ x2 4200+ x2 3800+ and remember, just stock cooling...
In terms of overclocking potential from best to worst I'd say X2 3800+ X2 4200+ E6400 X2 4600+ Although the middle two may switched round. The thing is, in order to overclock any Core 2 Duo, you need an expensive board, whereas with AMD processors, cheap boards can still manage amazing overclocks. All the AMDs there are capable of besting the Core 2 Duo if overclocked, but then the 6400 can be OC'ed too a bit. In terms of raw performance before overclocking I'd say 4600+ E6400 4200+ 3800+ The only Core 2 Duos that have attained monumental overclocks are the 6600 and above, and in any case, stock cooling would limit their stability too. By naff I mean not all that good, could be better. 7600GS cards are relatively low end, and in a system that costs that much, I feel it may be slowing the system down somewhat.
hodab, I meant like ur paying too much for hardware that shouldn't cost that much, I don't know much about the intel core duo but from what I've heard, it makes less heat, takes less power, and is faster (and it is a dual-core CPU) but let me give you some tips on saving money. Buy a 80 GB HDD and make up for it by buying a pack of 100 DVD-/+R's. Maybe instead of a monitor, you should connect ur comp to a tv. And watch out for prices! Your parts seem very expensive! Tell me individually the price of each part and I will tell you where you went wrong. P.S. How does a gfx card slow down system performance? Doesnt it just give you uglier graphics in games, etc? This is important for me to know...for video editing. I just need to know why is a video card important for video editing?
elo mate sorry just to step in like this but i think u might be paying a little to much i just upgraded my pc and the 3 main parts as u no is motheboard ram and cpu i just got this mobo http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.asp...4957129,4294959071,4294959072,50509&InMerch=1 ram x2 (the ram is not the best in the world but it will to for the price) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/512MB-ADATA-D...1QQihZ011QQcategoryZ44938QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem cpu (this is a OEM so no heat sink and fan or box)P.S this is dual core http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-Pentium...9QQihZ010QQcategoryZ80143QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem heatsink and fan http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Xilence-CPU-C...QQihZ007QQcategoryZ101193QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem this is (well to me a good pc)and that little set up cost $391.86
s3a: no a slow GPU doesn't slow down normal performance, but there'd be a reason for having a graphics card, and in such programs (usually games) performance would be pretty slow. It is important to have a graphics card for video editing, but you don't necessarily need a fast one. ATi cards are better at video editing, as previously discussed. I wouldn't recommend cutting on storage space, the price difference is minimal, neither would I recommend using a TV rather than a monitor unless an HDTV just happens to be lying around. hodab: I know the sting of that too, VAT where I live doesn't help mrcapdown: another UK aD user, wow. a 2.8Ghz Dual core is alright, but not what I would have chosen. It's also not where I would have chosen to buy it, but for £68 you did pretty well, if it all works!
sammorris it all works fine just waiting on the ram cant wait to get it up and running oh i no i should put this in a pm but sammorris what your WD Raptor 37GB like do u notice the diffents with a nomal sata drive just i have bin thinking of buying one thanx
It's pretty good. I can't compare this system to one exactly the same without it, so I don't know exactly how much faster it is, but with my X2 4200, I can boot windows in about 30-40 seconds, was a lot less before SP2 and drivers...
hodab! jag köpte/beställde ett sapphire x800 gto2 på westium idag. nästan enda som hade det.. kolla här: http://www.westium.se/PartDetail.aspx?q=pl:1;p:900422;b:720;c:36132
Does anyone here know the language he's speaking? I'd love to help him but I'm a bit rubbish with languages!
