    What brand/make are your discs?
What software are you using to burn with?
Does the burn process fail at the same point during the burn, or anytime at any point during the burn?

The brand of discs i am using are infiniti professional, they did work, i burned loads with these and they still work on my desktop just not my laptop. They have just stopped burning for some reason and it keeps stopping at different points of buring on different films , not at the same time. Any other ideas.

Do you use the drive to 'rip' the dvd to your HD?

If so, check in device manager/IDE Controller/Advanced that it is set to DMA and not PIO, if it is in PIO, uninstall the IDE controller, reboot and reinstall to revert back to DMA.
Also make sure your HD is also set to DMA aswell...........

What speed are the discs rated at, and what speed are attempting to burn?
How are you burning within Nero - settings/options etc?
Are you multi-tasking at all during the burn?
How much/type of RAM have you installed?
Have you tried on RW discs?
Have you tried the other format - ie +R or -R?

Also copy your Nero log here, so we can have a look at it.

BTW:Edit your serial number out of the log BEFORE posting - Near the top of the log I think.............

I know that Memorex are a little below par when it comes to quality, many other members have also encountered issues with them.

RE:Infiniti, I have never tried them, so could not comment on the quality of them, however I do know that Packard Bell produce some good quality media.

Which format are you using, the + or the - ?

Generally the cost of dvd's are coming down in price all the time, and the best ones to use for compatibilty are -R format.(also slightly cheaper)

That is actually quite a good sign that your burner does not particularly like the media you are using.........

Good media to go for are usually:
    Ritek GO4 Brand
    Taiyo Yueden
    TDK
    Packard Bell

I only use the Ritek GO4 type 4x, as these give me the best results, and are easy on the wallet.....

    Hope this helps................
