Hi I am new here, I have read the forum rule and I did find a thread asking the same question but I did not find a streaght answer or the answer I am looking for.

I am about to buy a modchip for my GC but I am not sure witch one to buy the Qoob pro or the viper, soldering is not a problem?

I have read a lot about the viper and the qoob pro and so far I am looking to get the qoob pro untill last night when I read this from the faq at qoobchip.com
(->I downloaded the bios from qoobchip.com but I cant play backups. Why?
A: Since there is no way for the chip to determine whether a backup is legitimate or not we have not added this feature to our bios releases.<-)

This is where I am confused on some part of the forms on this site there is info saying how you can burn gcm on to a dvd and play/boot up the backups is this true?

if not I dont see the point of having the qoob pro chip only to run hombrews don't get me wrong I do plan on runing some of my own hombrews but the main point of me buying Qoob chip was to be able to run my backups leaving my perfect original version safe as my backup.

Question one is: witch one to buy the Qoob pro or the viper, soldering is not a problem ?

Question two is: dose the qoob pro play backups gcm burned to DVDs?

any help will be truly appreciated thnx

    1. qoob pro, it has got more flash memory, beside of that they are almost the same.
2.all mod chips play gcm but you need to rename them to iso, so you can burn them on a dvd disk

Well to answer your question about the BIOS on www.qoopchip.com not being able to play backups is for safety reasons. They do have other Bios 1.3c being the latest that will play backups and have other good features but they are released through other sites. www.ngcdev.com has them.

Nintendo it seems doesn't mind you modifying your GC to play homebrews...anything other then that and your ass is sued.

well thnx for the help and replys I am now more confident on getting the qoob pro, and this direct GameCube Modchip Comparison link helped me too
    http://www.qoobchip.com/gcm.html

    well I have chiped 4 ps2s, two ps2 with the DMS4 and DMS3 Modchip
and the other two with the matrix infinity Modchip so being able to chip the 23 pin DMSchip and the 20 pin matrix infinity chip I should have no problem but I might need some help on the qoob pro chip as I am only 15 years of age so if I need some help then please do help me and if you lot need help on chiping the ps2 or info on it, I would be happy to help.:)

This is the link to the site I am getting the qoob pro from http://www.mrmodchips.com/catalog/p...d=183&osCsid=abff1f6aad79e2734e24483d5bc5ccd1

one part I don't understand is this: Supports Action Replay cheat codes (***)
(*) BBA required (**) SD card adapter required (***) Original Action replay needed once

I have a bba and a AR but not a SD card adapter why do I need this,
dose the chip not boot the original AR?

as I said before, thnx for all the help and any help will be truly appreciated thnx

The soldering for the Qoob Pro is a piece of cake.

Just be patient and try to keep your hand steady.

It supports Action Replay codes by loading the Action Replay program into it's flash memory.

The idea is, that they only want you to use the Action Replay codes loaded on the Qoob if you own an Action Replay. To use the codes, just pop in an Action Replay disc, have the Qoob Pro rip the engine from the disc, and you're ready to go.

    Thnx for the replys.

Hi just a few questions, I have ordered the Qoob pro from http://www.mrmodchips.com and I should receive it soon.

question one: I want to backup my gc games I have PSO Ep 1&2 and a bba but I don't have or know any ripping tool that is needed, please give me a link or where I can find it.

question two: do I have to use a specific ripping tool to be able to boot the backup on the Qoob pro or can you use any ripping tool?

    thnx for any replys

    Thnx for the replys.

I have manage to make a crossover cabul useing the RJ45 crimping tool and I have manage to rip out FzeroGx and Smss using GameCube ISO Ripping Server 1.0.0.29 I rip the game in gcm format size 1.35GB/(1,459,978,240 bytes) and I was able to stream it useing GC Disc Server v1.2 beta - ParadoX.
I have search and I have not found a step by step info on what to do to a newly ript gcm ,like if the file is 1.35GB what do I have to do to burn the file and be able to boot the file useing Qoob pro do I need to use GCwipe or FSTFIX or do I just rename the file to smss.iso and burn it useing nero at 1x burn and finalize DVD box on

and if the file is less then 1.35GB what do I have to do to burn it do I just rename it to iso and burn it or is the file a bad rip.

I have looked in the froms and I did find info like use nero to burn the file but I did not find info like what to do to a newly rip file.

    any replay well be truly appreciated thnx a lot {^-^}

the only time you need to do anything to a new rip is if the size is incorrect, in that case then just run fstfix on it.

Otherwise, just rename it from .gcm to .iso and burn with nero or roxio or alcohol 120%

    it's as simple as that.

BTW I always stream a game first before burning it just to make sure it will work

    Hi guys.
Im new here..i m waiting for my Qoob Pro chip from www.modwhiz.com i hope its all just simple as u say here.
Since i havent the BBa and other stuff to rip games, my unike alternative is download games from net, rename that file to *.ISO and burn it with nero, right?

and yes I have downloaded a gcm file and it was the same as the rip that I did myself. only one of the file was small so I used fstfix to fix it to 1.35GB.[*_*]

    See http://snipurl.com/hltx
