Ok I use the dvd shrinker and at the end when it says 100% or 99% an error comes up saying that it can not read the E:/ drive wich is my dvd-combo drive. This happends to another movie I was doing but after 3 times it finally worked. I am trying to back up "The Notebook" for my sister. thanks in advace I have shrink version 3.2 and the decrypter isnt the newest I downloaded it two months ago.oh yeah by the way it goes threw the encoding without a broblem it is when I shrink it that is when the problem happends, and it is at like the 100% mark that it says the error. thanks again.

OK I am positive my burner is not making quality burns The dvdrs I buy from ebay of concerts work fine. Any DVD I try to back up don't seem to work properly in my standalone. I have used phillips and now I use verbatim disc's. I have run your program as well as scubapetes. I have also used dvdxcopy. All with the same out come. Movie freezes half way through pilelates etc. I am convinced My burner is bad,it isa nec 1100A. I have tried to get a firmware update but it says it is unneccisary. I want to buy a new burner. what would you recomend I am looking at a benq dw1620 16x double layer dual format oem price about $75,is this good also a nd3520 nec should I get a internal or external? what would you recomend? I really enjoy burning movies so I want a quality on but not to over board know what I mean? Thanks ---zen-->

Well the problem probaby is your stand alone player not the DVD writer, but if you want to buy a new burner for under $100 I would go with one of these.

    1. Samsung TS-H552B http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-151-210&depa=1
    2. Lite-On Model SOHW-1633S http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-960&depa=1
    3. NEC Model ND-3520A http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-152-039&depa=1
    4. Lite-On Model SOHW-1673S http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-964&depa=1
    5. TOSHIBA Model SD-R5372 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-130-035&depa=1
    6. Pioneer Model DVR-109 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-129-161&depa=1

Them are in no particular order well I guess they are from the cheapest to the most expensive, but they are all proven good burners. If you plan on ripping the DVD with that drive then the LiteOn and Pioneer will do that the best for you, but if you are using the drive strictly for burning then all are good drives. You really wouldnt go wrong with any of those. I highly recomend an internal drive. Just search threw AD on problems people have with external burners and I'm sure you will feel the same. External would only be a choice as a second srive for me if I really were going to travel a lot and use diferent computers, but the internals are much more dependable.

Sorry bbmayo, I have been having one hell of a time accessing this site recently... Well what would you think if the dvdr's I buy from ebay work fine and the ones I make don't, I am just backing up some reg movies (ie. shark tale) doesn't it seem like They all wouldn't work? I'll tell you what I am using verbatim digital movie disc's burning at 4x they are 4x disc's.What should I use before I buy a new player and then burner. What is the best possible media I should try? O r do you believe it is just my standalone?

What is the brand of media you are getting from ebay?
Also do those disks you make play fine in your computer? if so try playing them in a buddies stand alone player a different make or model than yours of course. Your player may just be touchy what is the brand and model number of your stand alone DVD player by the way? It just sounds like a media / player compatability issue. The best DVD media you can get is Taiyo Yuden disk's for sure. Heres a link to my site with all kinds of usefull info and were you can get some good disk's http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html
