    SO CAN WE RULE OUT IT BEING THE BURNER I TRYIED TO UNINSTALL AND REBOOT CHECKED CONNECTION SEEMS TO BE FINE WHAT IS NEXT....MAYBEE IT IS THE FLUX COMPASATER...I KNOW BAD SPELLING

    Ok you did the uninstall bit in device manager and rebooted?

    What mode does the drive show now? Still in PIO or is it in an Ultra DMA mode?

    I DID THE REBOOT BUT DRIVER READS DMAOFF ----AUTO RUNON WHEN I GO IN THRU PROPERTIES DEVICE MANGER SAYS TRANSFER MODE DMA IF AVAILABLE CURRENT TRANSFER MODE POI MODE...????

    Ok you can try swapping places w/ your drives and see if it's connector. But you have that it won't work the other way?
    If you ever switched them did you change the jumper pins on the back to match the connection on the ide cable? Or if this is a Dell pc - have them set to cable select?

    You can also try forcing DMA by going into the registry but messing this up can do some damage to the o/s.
