nah, i only use Verbs or TY (or Verb TY!). i guess it's a 'funny' of the firmware then. my concern is partly that when decoding ppl's Nero logs i and others will have to be more careful when stating that a burner's firmware is lacking (if we see this burner in Nero logs anyways). ie this is the only drive i know of that seems to break the standard way that firmware displays the media info

    Hi creaky,

Do you think it's trouble with DVD+R? I noticed the example you gave me on the first page was TYG02 which is in the dash format.. RicohJPN R02 and MCC-004 are +. Have you tried +R TY's and seen if they show up?

Hi, i do use +R TY, the Verbatim TY (YUDEN000T03's) but glad you reminded me, i had meant to burn one and post the Nero info. i've been away from my burner PC all week (woe is me) but am back tonight so will burn some and post a snippet then....

right, just did a 'multiple recorders' burn in my trusty Nero 6 -

    - nice, just what i expected to see...

however, the other burn on the Benq.... -

    - not impressed. This was accompanied by -
    - shoddy is all i can say. i'm sure the burn will actually be ok, i'll watch it a bit later maybe, but hopefully Benq will slap the programmers around a bit and get the firmware reporting correctly soon. As anyone who knows me around AD will attest, i've delved into more than a few Nero logs and know that Nero (well Nero 6 anyway) reports a helluva lot of useful info in a burn logfile, and to see a burner giving crap media info in a log is plain shoddy.

    Hey,

That's pretty weird. Thanks for testing it out Creaky, and hopefully BenQ will get their stuff straightened out!

Edit: I'm curious, do you know if people with Nero 7 are having the same problems?

    no worries.
i don't use 7 so don't know..but as i say this has to be a firmware glitch, not a Nero problem...

haven't found any Nero 7 logs to compare yet..
