ide problems

    i have a computer that has a dvd-rw,dvd-rom,and hdd in it....i added another hdd and the computer read the dvd-rom and the two hdd's (still had the dvd-rw hooked up but did not read it) what did i do wrong?

    Are you using SATA or IDE or a mixture? If IDE, please describe what drives you have on which motherboard socket, and what the jumpers are set to.

    OK you have a dvd-rw, dvdrom and 2 hdd. Your hdd's should be on ide 1 and dvd drives on ide2. Your burner needs to be first on the secondary ide channel. Set the burner to master and your dvd rom drive slave. Burners don't like to be second in line. :)
