One of the WWW servers got restarted and its clock went 5hrs off. This resulted to a situation where we had three servers in correct time (UTC) and one server in incorrect time (UTC-5). When a post was made from that particular server, it got a timestamp that was 5 hours off. This should be fixed now or within next 30mins. Apologies.

i have a observasion here. nothing wrong with the site, per say functionaly, but there is alot of political opinions flying around here. alot of country bashing going on. i know everyone is proud of what they beleive in and such but does it need to be thrown out in every other thread? this is supose to be a tech/help forum not a world hatered forum. i myslef thing there should be a no tolerence policy towards this type of stuff. i mean there is alot of hatered being put out in some of these threads. and i dont think it should be stood for. just my 2 cents

Rob, like most/all the other mods, i'm lurking on an obscene amount of threads; we don't often miss too much sillyness but i guess some must still slip thru the net now and then.

Well really.. It isn't surprising when you get people from a certain country who think they, like their army and government, that have the right to go stomping all over everybody with their half baked ideas that they can force their failed business and democracy models on the rest of the world.

In some of the topics, especially the news topics there is only one course that can possibly be taken.. the article itself is political and so therefore are the answers and comments. Like it or not it happens that we are at war with our own governments over a few vital human rights matters.

You might not like seeing your country through the eyes of outsiders, but unfortunately you will have to live with it. For a lot of people across the world Team America isn't comedy but more the way we see the USA.. heavy handed, arrogant and bullying. The invader of sovereign states without cause and the destroyer of others cultures in the name of profit and riches for the few.

You have a situation where your countries "leaders" are taking your rights away and slowly turning you into a subservient downtrodden population. That would be bad enough on it's own, but by using economic muscle and direct bribery of elected leaders in other countries this is being enforced across the rest of the western world. A lot of countries have better laws and economic systems than the USA has ever had. More civil rights enshrined in law which are now being stripped away because of the US run "war on terror" and the lies about "national security" and "freedom".
Thinking people see through the lies, and if they have any sense of history they see the current trends for what they are.. an attempt by a bully boy economy to force it's way to a global state where people have no rights whatsoever to speak out against it. Annexation through the back door as it were.
When a government does deals and signs treaties behind the backs of the citizens and without their knowledge and consent it makes for a feeling of hatred towards the outside influence which has paid for these decisions.. That's where we are now, and as the US and the EU are seen as the biggest instigators of the removal of sovreignty of the people and the removal of consensual democracy all that can be drawn are the parallels with fascism and the 1930's. "Take away peoples freedoms little by little, by the time they realise what is happening they will not have the laws left to do anything about it" - A Hitler
Some whining little toad "America uber alles" spouter didn't like people quoting Hitler and Mussolini to highlight the parallels with things coming from governments now.. sadly in many cases they were word for word what is being said, and the underlying trends are all that way.

There is a huge conspiracy being hidden.. the taking of rights and freedoms from those who have long had them, all it seems with the motive of increasing power and wealth for those who have it.

A lot of the full blooded hatred comes from the behaviour of the mp$$ and ri$$ and bpi and the rest of the American funded cartel.. 3 words for where that will end up.. Treaty of Versailles. Put the interests of foreign business profits above the interests of the people at your peril, especially when the only opposition parties who don't pander to that are the fascists.

Oh BTW.. It's still ok though to hate on the French and Canadians isn't it? I don't see them complaining when somebody calls them a few names.. Just so long as we don't upset "Team America" XD

Remember this.. one persons terrorist is anothers freedom fighter.

I'm going to modify a piece of writing from history..

First they came for the pirates, and I didn't speak out because I'm not a pirate.
Then they came for the downloaders, and again I didn't speak out because I'm not a downloader.
Then they came for the bloggers. I didn't speak out because I don't blog.
Then they came for the forum posters, and because I have always followed the state line I didn't complain.
Then they came for the people who have got around their internet censorship firewall, and I didn't make any comment because I have never done anything like that.
Then one day they came for me.. and by then there was nobody left to speak out for me!

    @Varnull

Whew! At first I thought you were talking about the USA, but then I realized that it was Russia's invasion of the sovereign nation of Georgia, LMAO

Most of us do understand why the world dislikes us, but everyone calls on us when crunch time comes. Where was the European outrage at Russia. And would you blame the US if it stood by if Russia decided not to stop until the English Channel. The USA right now is powerless to save Europe should it need it. We can't win two measly wars because of political correctness and cameras that document every "atrocity". If I remember rightly in WWII, we burned Dresden to the ground in one night- women, children, babies. It was war. The allies all cheered, just as the Germans did, during the the V2 attacks on Great Britain.

We feel your anger here, acknowledge it, but can't seem to offer a Presidential Candidate who epitomizes what the rest of the world wants. Barrack Hussein Obama (the annointed)-need I say more-666-untrusted -NO experience-No ideas. John McCain-more senior moments than a nursing home-but a true hero and in the mold of liberal, Hillary Clinton who is win at all costs and we get Bill (the liar) back again. And then John Edwards-the ultimate evil who would have an affair and love child during which he is fighting for nomination and his unfortunate but gracious wife, a true lady, fighting for her life. It's a wonder there's not a reality show complete with the pastor Jeremiah, the bomber Ayres and Capt Jesse J, Gilligan and Mary Jane coming this Fall on NBC.

I know I probably have gone too far but what the heck-all's fair in love and war. And Jan this was not directed at you alone but to everyone who might have a political opinion. Everyone has the right to their opinion be it right or wrong. I still believe there should be a political thread in Safety valve and have voiced that before on deaf ears. I do understand why too. Other than a few idiots I see here now and then, we all seem to be getting along pretty well except for a few hurt egos now and then. JM2C go easy ddp, I feel the hair standing up on my neck.

I don't really give a toss about anyone's political opinions and/or their correctness. Only thing I know is that political b.s. is banned from these forums and not obeying the rule gets your account banned. And I don't want to hear any whining about "s/he started it!!1!". You engage into political debate on our forums, your account will be banned. Either temporarily or permanently.

...and as a friendly reminder, we pretty much never re-activate permanently banned accounts..

I don't really engage in politics as such, more lessons to be learned from history.

Who are at invasion and oppression right now? Russia, China, Uk, USA.. only one non superpower there. Unfortunately we don't hear from many Russians or Georgians, and the same for Tibetans and Chinese.

How can a topic possibly avoid becoming political when it is about a new law or a politician speaking out about some aspect of legislation which affects us? Political subject, political comments.

It is vital to see our society and it's leaders from an outside point of view. That is how the internet empowers us. We are a global community with different views on aspects of the modern world which we value or dislike. Whether we like or dislike the way we are seen by outsiders is not important, what matters is that we do see that our way isn't necessarily the right way. Only by being aware of other opinions can we form our own with any balance.. It is called "consensual democracy" and is about far more than politics.

So while it is easy to say "no politics" the challenge is to define exactly what is and isn't politics. Most people will hear that statement and think "politicians and political parties" but they would be wrong.

Afterdawn actually has quite a strong political stance in supporting freedom of speech and opposing the DMCA and other fair use of property restrictions imposed by governments around the world.

Unlike some campaigners I try to educate rather than just playing political cards. Nothing annoys me more than somebody coming along and shouting "my country is the only one that makes anything worth anything. my nation is the only country on earth and the only culture... nobody else matters" They get what they deserve.. a lesson about history and living in a multicultural world.

@ Garmoon.. what Russia is doing is completely wrong, but it doesn't affect our security or our rights just now. That is not a subject for these forums, exactly like the Olympics and China don't affect us here. Just listening to GW.. interesting that he will use those words when directed at another imperialist oppressor but doesn't equally apply them when American riches and profits are at stake.

@ cincyrob .. carry on.. I'm sure your head is safe and protected up there :) Only joking.. but see.. sometimes it is unavoidable when the subject first posted IS political in nature.

    my twopennorth.

    The outside view ;)

im not up anywhere above anyone. i will be the first to admit that the US has some screwed up things wrong with it no doubt. but no different than any place else. whats right in one persons/country eyes isnt right in others. i personal was involved with desort storm back in 1989 i know what it is like to be somewhere that everyone hates you and wants you dead, because of where your from. but as garmoon said whenever there is a crisis somewhere who do they call?? not ghostbusters..

im sorry for continueing this drD. it will be the last spoken from myself.

NO email notifications all day here, having to go thru the 'my subscribed threads' page to follow up on any notifications (there's definitely a fair few in there that i should've received emails for...)

have tested with my 2 email accounts, and no joy, so will await something being fixed at AD's end :)

I haven't gotten an email notification in almost 8 hours. Since then, I've had to check my subscribed list to see for updates.
