Anyone know if the Ilo firmware server is working now? I've tried several time in the past few days and can not get the downloads to work.

Judging from the interface the MU seems to be newer, I could be wrong. The MU has more features than the ZU, but the features never worked.

I would guess that the MU is newer.

This is my Quote from another post

The 04 is made by LiteOn It can be hacked
The 05 is made by Cyberhome It cannot be hacked

Do not get a ZU model they had problems and the edit sucks
The 05 MU and MU1 are basicly the same
The firmware updates are for the MU
There are no updates for the MU1

I had them all and have found the MU and MU1 to be good units

The ZU is an older model and should be avoided
    The MU1 is the latest.

PS Ive used many different mafg. disks and have had no problems

I got the MU unit first before I exchanged it for an ZU. The MU's interface does seem to be newer. But one big problem for me with the MU is: the recorded sound track is stereo only. Thus, when played back, audio output is only available from the RCA audio outputs, not coax digital audio output. On the other hand, the ZU model records sound track as Dolby 2 channels and playback audio is at both digital and RCA audio outputs. As I only use a digital audio cable from DVD to receiver for DVD sound, this difference is an important issue for me. This recorded sound difference has also been reported by another poster at another forum.

The MU1 *does* have an update. 610 and 049S are the latest firmware packages.

What site do you get firmware 610 and 049S for the MU1
I don't see them at the official ilo 05 site

    http://www.iloservice.com

PS The ZU and the MU models use different chips
The ZU is the Older Unit
If one feels they have a need for this unit by all means get it. IT has less features than the MU series

    TO clarify

ilo is a WalMart Brand [Requardless who manufactured it]
The MU has the same interior guts as the Cyberhome 1600
The Cyberhome 1200 is the same as the MU or1600 without the DV input, the electronics are there, just no connection

To whoever was talking about editing the menus, please, could you email me and tell me how to (or what programs) get my dvd burns onto my computer and edit the menus and what not?

I emailed tech support and they emailed them to me. Bear in mind that they only work on the DVDR05MU1.

You'd think sooner or later they'd ad a like for the MU1. Maybe they are trying to dump all the older models first.

Here is what I do. I run a cable from the Video and audio out jacks on my VCR to the front audio and video inputs of the DVD recorder. This keeps the back A/V lines in use by my Sat. box. No need to do cable swapping.

It doesn't look nice, but all you need to do when not recording is to unplug the cable from the DVD recorder and tuck them out of the way.

Naturally, newer VHS titles may have Macrovision, which stops the DVD recorder cold.

Thats interesting. I contacted ilo service just last week related to this issue on another site.
They informed that the MU1 has the latest firmware and there is no update, only for the MU
They said that they would email me an ISO version of the update for the MU, Which they had already sent but sent it anyway
    I'll give them another call

Is there a video stabilizer that will work with this unit? The ZU model, I mean? If so, could someone link me to it?

Latest Firmeares for the MU1 are: 610 and 049S both front and back end.
    Must get from iLo Service.
    [Jaysinn]
Yes. This one works. It won't solve time base issues, but it does remove Macrovision.

That plainly says it won't work with ILO Technologies DVD Recorders.

    Have you personally tried it?
