So it really doesn't burn dvds? Well that's a big let down. I guess that's what I get for not knowing anything and believing the dell dudes. Thanks for all of your help! You guys rock.

Sorry kristelle, you can always get a USB drive for your laptop this is what I use with mine and it works out very well :~)

You're very welcome kristelle, and thats very unfortunate, sorry. There is software that will allow you to backup a dvd on 2 or more cd's but you can buy a dvdrw drive for about the same as what the software will cost you. I would go with the second option since you already have Clonedvd2 and you can download dvd shrink for free. Check out newegg for the best prices. Here's the link. http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Category.asp?Category=10

Edit: Oops reread some posts. If you've got a laptop then arniebears suggestion is the way to go. External drives cost a little more but I think you will find newegg has about the best prices on them too.

OK, you guys sorted everything out now i've read it thru. And Memorex media is safe to burn another day, and i feel vindicated as i genuinely still haven't come across a Memorex-to-blame thread in many days :0

Regarding Clone, I had a similar problem. I can burn with Roxio and Decrypter, but Clone says that the correct media isn't in the drive. I couldn't burn with anything at first, but a Firmware update got me to a point where I could use most of my software :)
Wouldn't it be great if everythnig just worked ;)
