I have a Comcast/Motorolla DVR (that I am thinking about getting rid of) and an iMac running OS 10.6.8 and was wondering if there was a way to save my DVR content on my computer. I have found some dated info through a Google search but it seemed a bit over my head, in addition to not being current. It essentially said there was a way to stream the live video through the firewire connection and then record it as you watch it. Also, is there a way to set up my iMac as a DVR like Windows Home Server?

no you cannot the information is locked to the dvr and worse it is in a format that only the dvr itself can read the only dvr i have seen you can share items from is direct tv dvr receiver thats it now if you want to set up a dvr on a iMac you need a itv adapter or any tv adapter for your iMac but you will have to pay 10.00 a month to use the itv features
