    Hi gerry :)

The forum is slipping away, simply because the good addicts and seniors are walking away, whilst the noobs are spreading like wildfire. Solution should be fairly simple - get some more mods in..?

    -Wrong.

Because, the adverse effect is, the mods then spend their time clearing up the forums, whilst the rest of the forum is starved of their knowledge. There is so much wisdom on the irc channel that aD could really use, but many of these great members are disappointed with the way the forums are going.

When I joined back in July (Think I caught the tail-end of the "good 'ol days"), senior members were respectful and polite. GrandpaBW, catfreak, et cetera were the guys I looked up to as a mere newbie. Nowadays - though we still have many great seniors - they are being out numbered by the mere "customers".. those who hang around for a good debate/argument/flame, and easily achieve the status in weeks. They subsequently see themselves as exceptions to the rules, are rude and obnoxious to those of lower status, and the knock-on effect is, the standard of the forum goes down another notch.

I see where you are coming from there, ireland, however you can't really say that when we have a 15 year old doing a great job of moderating here..

YES I CAN,even the admin and most of the mods did not know how old he was..i still say 18 years old is the way to go.

it should be some what like this,

this service is available to people people over 18 years old and minors 13 and older that have parental permission to sign up >>>

ireland, you are not looking at the big picture.

For if nobody under 18 was allowed in, there would be no Dela (staff member), or Jannejt (Moderator), both of which have proved themselves in their respective fields.

    ireland,

irrespective of what American Law states, do [bold]you[/bold] personally feel those under 18 do not deserve to post in the forums?

i believe those under 18 should be able to post if the following guide lines are followed.

this service is available to people over 18 years old and minors 13 and older that have parental permission to sign up
the parents would also have to sign the agreement.

that means if any Misbehaving on a web site the web master can go after the parents..instead of the child.

    remember thats just a option,

it's (what appears to be, around these forums anyway) the majority of the posters in the kiddie forums. there are some who stand out that are mature and they are very good at keeping some of the idiots in line.

what i detest is arriving at threads from a google search when i'm not actively looking on AD, and i find myself in the middle of some crap posting, imagine what non-AD ppl must think. i spend a good deal of my working day in google for techie help to get stuff done or fixed and whilst those searches don't come up with AD (unless 'creaky' is in the search criteria in which case all i ever find is me LOL) other sites just don't seem to have it this bad with all the crap posting. Don't get me wrong, there are adults who act like this too, there's apparently a 31-year old in that anydvd thread. what a maggot, but i digress..
