Ah I see well they're all working grand here,I'd say regarding the missing or dead channels that it's a local fault in those specific roads has to be.

i have a genuine sview box with 2.57e api and a sview 2 box. I was wondering if the sview box can be upgraded so it finds new codes as the sview2 box seems to do.

if there is a software update for this, could someone point me in the right direction on what to do etc.

To update your box you will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

    Null modem info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

    USB Adapter info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found here http://eko.4shared.com/

You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link.

Now select the firmware either CryptStar-1.4 for a genuine Star***w 1 box or ver 4.50 if you're in Ireland or ver4.51 if you're in the UK for 'The Box' or if you have a clone box select version 257 FIXED all of which can be found in the 'firmware' folder.

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot

Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in

    * You should download the Starview PDF guide this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.

I think my starv**w box is dead! Anyone any advice as to whats the best thing to replace it with. Have been offered a chip put into N*L box which I'm told is the best thing since sliced bread. Also The B*x which I'm told will descramble and you don't have to put in codes etc it doesn't go down. Any comments/advice on the way to go?

Hi all, was just wondering if anyone could explain more about nagravision to me and the fact that I've read people have already hacked nagra 2 and 3 does this mean you can access nagra direcly through legit digital receivers and if so unlock further channels by doing so, thanks

Why think its dead? The b_x will do that and autoupdat the keys, but if channels move frequency you may need to rescan. As for the cab company changing anythink who knows....time will tell

it would appear part of N2 has been cracked but not all of it. N3 hasn't (yet). Rumor is that its expensive for cc to change, and that possibly a card/box change would be required. Maybe a card change first then when HD comes along a new box...

    Pure speculation though...! ;)
