hi nead help i got a USB converter ins toPC no (COM4).ithink this is OK have fraimware&RTROM i did not link the PCto the box(starview) when i try to open the RTROM it comes up blank

 

oh lucky you, with all them box's you aint got nothing to lose have you, if the clone dies just buy a new box but make sure its not a clone eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's quite right but what i said was the firmware update for s/v works on the clone s/v

i have also been on another site where it was reported it works ok on clone s/v box's

sorry daylitex are you saying the firmware to use is the 400ee api or to use the software maked genuine SV only ?

 

the genuine s/v box's only is an upgrade of v400ee
its v401ee but it still shows as v400ee on your s/v box after you update

ive a clone box chanced using the new firmware worked a treat for me,,,,,it could b a second gen sv tho im not sure but hey was worth a punt, thanks for the new fix o wise ones

 

i got it from their?? have pc to s/v box linked through a usb converter port com4 click on rtrom and nothing it wont open ??

cant understand you, i have just downloaded the GTrom and it downloaded no problem???????

 

Is the COMM port on your PC actually set to port 4? (Not the software, I mean the actual device on your PC)

How to Check & Change your COM Port number in XP

Assuming you are using XP?

Do the following.

START
Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)
Choose "Properties"
Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
Restart Windows

Set GTRom or STBLink to COM2 & try to connect.

If that fails try another port number.

 

Yes I have just tried the same with perfect results, it is working fine, might be a silly question but are you extracting it. ?????
