I'll have to try the recticle turning red, b/c I haven't been able to do that yet, does it do it pretty quick or does it take awhile to turn red?

I dunno, I think they'd just put something up on XBLive if there were gonna be any content downloads. Maybe it's the date of the first download available...

i think that halo3 will take just as long because halo2 was a contination to halo 1 but it just didnt have as an intense ending connecting the two like halo2 and halo3 do. so really halo2 is a continuation from halo1 but just not as an intense ending like halo2

dude I thought the ending to Halo 2 was awful, actually I was pretty let down by the whole thing. You play as the arbiter more than you do the MC, I just hope Halo 3 makes up for it (it should).

The multi-player is pretty freakin sweet, but vehicle boarding is lame. They could've spent more time on cooler vehicles than that.

no i mean that the halo 1 ending was not as intense as the halo 2 ending BUT they both were continuations to eachother so i think that halo3 will take just as long as halo 2 did

Hey guys, I started reading this thread and figured I should join up just to have my say. I have not read every page, especially the most recent ones, so someone may have said this already:

HALO 3 is NOT the next game to be released or worked on by Bungie!

    Why? Coz it's already done.

    BUT

I don't think it will be called Halo 3. I think it will be Halo 2, part 2.

That's why Bungie said they are not working on halo 3, coz they aren't. Halo 3 would probably be a totally new game.

The can't go calling the 2nd half of halo 2 halo 3.. It just does nto make sense.

Also, there must still be some stuff we have not seen.. remember the Elite's ATV buggy?? Where is that in Halo 2 thus far? No where!

Also, one question to the experts here,

Online play. With the 2nd half of Halo 2 (Halo 3), it's gonna have to include EVERY multiplayer map from Halo 2, otherwise it's really gonna mess up XBOX LIVE play. It would be a pain in the arse to keep changing discs to go back to playing some of the other levels like ascension and colossus etc.

So my guess is that the next Halo to be released in February, which is finished or almost finished, will include ALL of the multiplayer maps from Halo 2, as well as a complete set of new ones. That way we won't need to swap discs to go back to play the original multiplayer levels. AND, that way it will keep all the stats and what not all in tact.

    SO, to condlude:

    No Halo 3
    But rather,
Halo 2, part 2, the concluding half of Halo 2.
Therefore Bungie didn't lie. They are not working on Halo 3, nor will it be their next game.
Halo 2, part 2, will be the same engine, minus some of the glitches as Halo 2..

    What do you think?

hmm........that actually makes sence, and i think that it would be GREAT that u could have the halo 2 maps in halo 2 2nd half,it wold fix the problem with it coming out to soon cuz halo 2 just came out and u would wanna play halo 2 more but that would fix it if they put all the halo 2 maps in it so its like, your not missing it and that really, nothins changin besides 50$ less in your wallet and new maps and new missions....i like your idea......peace

keep in mind that last October, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer said that Bungie was already "working on Halo 2 and Halo 3."
This my friend is proof positive that Halo3 is right around the corner

You can also search microsofts press releases for "halo 3" keep the quotes. The article you will find is from over a yeat ago which shows that halo 3 has been in the works for some time. Also the name is likly to be halo 2.5 for the ppl who are throwing around the halo 2 part 2 idea. If you have any questions ask.

You people are all fools to listen to these fanatics. For one, the start up to that "real" story is basically the announcement trailer for halo 2. Also, the movie on these forums that was shown was an e3 demo. If you watch the collectors edition dvd it will show you that they just quickly looked at the basic story line and made it all up for e3. Afterwards they got really stressed because they hadn't made much progress so they remoulded the game to what we see here as halo 2. Plus the e3 demo is slightly different mission than earth missions in halo 2. The cutcenes from these movies are in the game but changed slightly like the fact that the sky is not shrouded in darkness in new mombasa and that there are casual marines instead of the spec-ops troops. Also, why would they show a halo 3 movie at e3 2003 and name it a halo 2 movie. Also, I know there is a chance they cut the game in half but they probably only cut the story (as shown on the collector dvd). They couldn't of made two games in that period of times. I also talked to my cousin Chris Butcher on this(hes from nz and one of the creators of halo 1, 2 and upcoming release titles) and he said that they're not stupid enough to release so early and microsoft are too smart to do this. Also, another problem with the story is that the elites, grunts and hunters split from th covenant under the lead from the arbiter so they cant be riding the ship with the brutes and jackals. And considering the fact he is on the forerunner ship with the prophet of truth and his brute guards, why would he jump of that ship on to a normal cruiser. And another thing, this so called "halo 3" story is just an edited version of a rumoured halo 2 story released last year. Just think about that.

One simple answer to those who say there is no Halo 3 (Continuation of halo 2)is that to finish the game and watch the ending movie. If you finish the game in lengedary, you were have something that say 9th feb.

Maybe it is the releasing date for the Halo 3??

Yea i know it says Feb 9th at the end because of clocked legendary, twice. But I reckon it is downloadable content because bungie stated that downloadable content would be coming a couple or a few months after but then again why would they state such a unimportant thing at the end?. But still all this story speculation and movie speculation is a bit on the stupid side.

Try cracking this maybe it will solved the question for the 9th feb thingy? well here is it:είναι εκείνα τα WHO λένε ότι αυτή η ημέρα δεν θα ερχόταν ποτέ.

    good luck in doing that.

Anybody who is mentioning the February 9 date is almost certainly full of crap, as Bungie has already denied this. Plus, it doesn't sound to me like the job title mentioned in this thread actually exists.

Even if the person is telling the truth about having a relative working at Bungie, the idea that Halo 3's release is somehow imminent strains credulity; it sounds a lot like the rumors that the game had been done for months but was being delayed by Microsoft, which was told about both Halo 1 *and* Halo 2.

InfoHalo and Pat_b_30 are both lying to you. Halo 3 has not been announced, let alone begun. Bungie has already denied the rumor about the date "February 9" appearing in Halo 2's credits or having any significance whatsoever for Halo fans.

Bungie has made no announcement, and has most likely not even made a decision, about whether or not Halo 3 will be made and for what platform.

The title "lead producer for designs" is most likely bogus. Bungie has design leads and producers; this sounds like a mish-mash title cooked up by a non-native speaker of English who wants to sound like they know what they are talking about.

Regarding those claiming to have information because they are in distribution or retail: these channels hardly ever get useful information ahead of the public. Bungie's old policy had been to release "when it's ready" which was determined only by them. Since being bought by Microsoft, they have released two products, both with their release dates announced well in advance. Retail and distribution chains got no special information about these release dates prior to their being made official.

In fact, retail companies are usually exceedingly bad sources of information about release dates, as in many countries, such as the US, in order to offer a preorder they must supply a release date, even if that release date eventually turns out to be wrong.

Bungie has responded already to both of these rumors. You can see the links here:

    http://rampancy.net/feb9rumor
    http://rampancy.net/halo3rumor

I'm not trying to spoil anybody's fun here... if you want to believe these jokers, go ahead-- but most likely come the spring you're only going to be disappointed.
