    Does anyone know how to let the moderators of this site know that they need to update their software version to 0.53a? 0.53 had a big bug in it...

    DVDcopy2 made a good copy of Braveheart.
    The only problem I had was the ZOOM and capture process. My bad.

    If you want to work DVDcopy 2 with AnyDVD you need to open AnDVD, choose program, and then remove the check from safe mode.

    6402....man, you're the first I've heard that from, i was very hesitant to use copy2, but after i did, i couldn't believe the quality especially considering the speed. I'm wondering if ripping with CCE(compatibility?) could have been the problem, if you try it with anydvd, let us know the results. Try ripping to the drive with decrypter, it's really fast and works well that way. In fact I have done it with anydvd and decrypter and it was faster with decrypter to the HD, than on the fly with anydvd. I believe copy 2 recommends using decrypter to rip.

    Hi Guys

    I finally got rebuilder/cce to work so I now have a few questions. Firstly to get everything to work I uninstalled everything, then unzipped all the files again, and installed following the guides and surprise surprise it worked??

    So...I left it running all night, when i got up this morning it had finished, I had three folders in my drive Audio ts, video ts and d2vavs. Do I now burn the video ts folder with burning software?
    also phase 1 took - 8min, phase 2 took 530min, phase 3 rebuild took 23 min, is this about right?
    I used one click mode, and copied 'the eagle has landed' which said it was a dvd-5 and compressed to 56%?
    I persume i now need to play to get the correct settings and compression etc.

    I use Nero express to burn, that way you can just click and drag the entire folder into nero's VIDEO_TS file. congrats, you'll like the finished product, i assure you, especially colors and definition. Welcome to the club!
    _Now you can get dvdremake and reauthor lowering the amt. of compression on your movie, thus making it better! lol one step at a time, right?

    PS- shouldn't take more than about 8- 10 minutes to burn, maybe 15 depending how much ya got.

    whoa? did I read you rite? 530 MInutes? Usually takes about 3-4 hours. Took me 4 hrs. with LOTR return of the king. Also what do u mean correct settings, need to play? Your done except for the burn, compression's already been done. Did you use v.53 or 53a. V.53 is screwed up.

    First, you don't need to do anymore compression the file seems large because it contains a now useless file. The d2vavs folder is now uselss you can delete it, the Audio TS folder is empty but leave it alone so all you need to concern yourself with now is the Video TS folder your back up is finished now you just need to burn.

    Phase 1 and 3 were just right but 530 minutes for Phase 2 is over 8 hours and that's too long, there's a red flag indicating something needs to be tweaked somewhere. At the most phase 2 should still be under 4 hours.

    Still congrats for overcoming that obstacle now burn the movie and tell us how it worked out.

    mccoy, you've had a long arduous journey, I'm glad it worked for ya. I would just go ahead and drag the entire folder into nero express, it will know what to get for the burn, then just delete the entire thing when your done with the burn. Also, I wonder since you had so much trouble, that if and when you purchase CCE Basic, the time will be cut in half. That would sound about right, since CCE SP makes 4 passes while CCE basic only makes 2 passes. Half of 8 hrs.= guess what? four hrs.! Hey [bold] sophocles[/bold]did you have to validate what I said to mccoy since your new status has swelled that ego, or do you just have to have the last word? My bet is your in bed and for tonite at least I get the last word! signed wide awake and tickled pink at 4:00am, tee hee, now drive on up here in Nov. and me, you, and brobear will sit in a sea of orange and watch UT kick the Wildcats butts!

    Glad to know it's working for you. Now we'll have to see if we can speed things up a little. Just out of curiosity, what CPU (model and speed) do you have, and how much RAM?

    CCE SP doesn't automatically do 4 passes. It can do anywhere from 1-10, depending the settings used in Rebuilder. With no changes to the default settings, it should do the same number as Basic, but depending on the amount of video in the titles that are being encoded and the encode speed of your PC, 8 hours may not be that far out of line. And of course, if you increase the number of passes it will make the encode take longer like you said.

    You are right 3 AM is pusing it, I'm used to going to bed by 11 and getting up at 5:45 AM. The default setting for DVDrebuilder is 2 passes so which ever encoder he uses the time frame should be about the same. My best guess is that it took 8 hours and 49 minutes because his system is a bit on the slow side. Vurbal has requested system specs so we'll take a look at them when they are posted.

    It might be a good idea to add some sort of minimum system requirements for people to view before they jump in and learn the hard way. If we get people hearing about failures we'er going to have fewer people comimg onboard.

    It would be nice to be able to put that in the guide. The problem is figuring out what the minimum recommended would really be. It gets particularly complicated when you get into advanced areas, like adding AviSynth filters, because your performance can vary widely. I'll have to think about it.

    I have burned the dvd it came out as good as the original, so far as i can see on my tv & pc. I am currently running a P4 1.7 with 768 mb ram (rambus) nvidia geforce3 64mb, i have an nec 2500a dvd burner and i am running win xp pro. The system runs pretty well.

    It would be good if I could speed things up a bit, but if not it can do its thing when I am in bed or at work!!

    congratulation, I'm glad you stayed the course. Could you open DVDrebuilder, go to options, CCE options, Advanced (expert) settings and let us know what your VBR_passes settings are?

    That's a little longer than it should have taken If you're still doing LOTR. I can encode at least a little faster than that on my laptop which has a 1.7GHz Celeron and only 256MB RAM. On that machine CCE's speed ranges from .9 to 1.3, meaning each pass should take the running time for the video divided by that number. The next time you use Rebuilder, try to see what speed CCE shows. If it's about what I get with my Celeron, it's about where it should be. Also, make sure that you have the MPEG2Source("source",idct=7) option checked in the advanced AviSynth options of Rebuilder. It increases my speed by anywhere from .1 to .2, which might be the difference between the speed you're getting and the speed you could get. At any rate I'm glad it worked.

    I will try another dvd tonight and see what happens, my settings in cce options are VBR BIAS :25, VBR PASSES :2, QUALITY PREC : 16. I had the MPEG2Source("source",idct=7) option ticked. I set it up as instructed in the guide so my setting are unchanged unless the guide said to do it. Is there anything else I can do?
