Hey guys, I searched and couldnt find a thread related to this so my apologies if that had been discussed already.

I am trying to install from a game back up but it wont read the disks. Actually if I insert the disks alone, the machines will read them, they'll just tell me to insert disk 1 to install. Once I start the install process and it asks for cd 2, it wont read it. A friend says thats the copy protection. I scanned the CDs and the first one came out possitive with SafeDisc 3.20. Is that the issue here or is there something else that I am missing? Thanks.

Sounds like disc two is just plain bad. SafeDisc doesn't interfere with the install.

What software and methods were used to make the backup?

That's the problem. Nero can't make working copies of protected PC games. You'll need software that can accurately read and write the protection back to the disc such as Alcohol 120% or BlindWrite.

    Yep.

When you try to run a protected game it needs to perform a "handshake" of sorts between the disc and the game on your hard drive to verify that the disc is legitimate. Nero can't read and write the protections back to disc so this process will always fail.
