I'm not familiar with a "deep background virus scan".
Could you tell me what that is?

    I think i found it....
When i try to install nero, it always want to install the Cover Designer Aplication in
    E:\Archivos de programa\ahead\......
because i have my keyboard in spanish...
its a bug from the installer...
i change my keyboard to english and eliminate my Spanish to avoid any reference and Nero installs very well...

    i hope it helps...

    Greetings

    BelowZero,

    Deep Background = DOS scan

I tried to download one from McAfee, it was free last year, but as they say, last year was last year -

Sorry I couldn't get one for you, try your Anti-virus company, tell them you would like a DOS scan program, see if they have one -

(I may well be out-dated on this ??) Can't hurt to ask :))

Just an update. Things are no better. I bought Easy CD creator, installed it and had exactly the same blue screen error. must be my computer. I'm getting ready to reinstall XP.

    BelowZero,

It seems that you're going to have to do it, redo XP Home, reinstall I mean - then attempt a Nero installation -

    Personally, I wouldn't have Roxio running with Nero - that's me -

    Good luck -

I downloaded the latest version of nero yesterday and tried to smart start nero and it would not open, just the hourglass for a few seconds then nada. So I rebooted and as soon as I signed on The error reporting box from ms came up and said it had just saved me from some catastrophy. Upon futher investigation though the error service, I found out that I had to update my my Intel chipset. They appear to be playing nice now and I am happy as well.

    Askyew,
I had a similar crsh after I had installed Intel's Application Accelerator and tried to open Nero. I had to remove it even though it knocked 5 minutes off my encode times with Shrink 3.1.
