will basically. i bought a new 300 gb hard drive.
and i wanted to make it a slave drive on my secondary ide.

i have 2 hard drives on my primary ide
and a cd burner on my secondary ide.

i moved the cd burner down to secondary slave
and trying to put the 3rd drive on secondary master.

    what am i doing wrong?
i cant get it to detect the hard drive at all.
    i should... its a maxtor.

you probably just have to initialize it in windows. go control panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management. Click on Disk Management. click on the new drive, select initialize, then format.
