I currently have windows xp mc and i was wonderring if i could install a distro(i believe that is what it is) like ubuntu onto my computer without having it mess with my xp? Basically what i am asking is if i instal ubuntu will i get a boot choice on startup asking wich os do i want to boot with?

Or should i just try it first on a live cd?

    Thank You

If you can spare the download time it may be worth trying the live cd first, just incase you don't like it.

If you think your gonna go with it then the install will setup a bootloader for you which will give you the choice of Windows or Linux the next time you boot.

    Have fun with linux.

    Oh, can't wait, Thanks :)

    Edit:
I tried the live cd and i liked it, a lot. :)
I will install ubuntu shortly, just one quick question, is there annyway to get my wireless card to work on linux, if there are no drivers from the maker of my wireless cards (you can see that here>> http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DWL-G520_revB )?

Another edit: do i need to worry about spyware and viruses with linux?

Another edit: I got the wireless card working on the live cd so nvm! :)

Most spyware and virusses where written in the code windows uses, and are therefore mostly harmless on a linux/unix system.
