installing windows os

    hi, i have a laptop without a dvd drive installed and coannot find one to fit anywhere. The harddrive is also corrupted. I want to install windows xp but obvisouly i cant use the dvd drive. is there a way of using an external usb dvd drive, or any other way?

    any help would be very appreciated

    Is your laptop running right now with a different windows on it?

    If it is you can just put windows right on your hard drive and install it from there.

    no the hard drive it has, has been wiped clean

    If the laptop's BIOS settings allow it to boot from USB, then you shouldn't have any issues installing XP from it.

    You can install from an external drive. You just need to know the drive letter and how to switch to it. You also need to know the extact name of the setup file that needs to be opened. I think it is setup.exe but it's always good to double check.
