intel spend about £250 milion a year on r+d, so its about time that paid some dividends.

I'm not trying to do a swim suit show at all, as you can see I've tried about 10 combinations of type to get just the link to show.

i used a ':p' in my other comment. but i can't guarantee to keep smiling. it's really not fine. let's get the thread back on track thanks...

edit- i'm simply trying to stop other posters abusing the thread ie some of our younger members might then think it's ok to post pics of girls.
i wasn't having a go at BigDK who was genuinely figuring out how to post pics..

not based on any facts, this is just my opinion.

i think that they dont want to appear to have given up on the bleeding edge of performance, which intel so clearly owns now. add the fact that they still need to pay for ati and they are struggling to make enough chips to fill demand.

if nobody pays for them the price will drop, it has to, but it seems that sombody somewhere still is, so it hasn't.

Prices on FX series will always be high just as it is for Intel X CPU's
Not only are you normally getting the fastest in the series but also get the unlocked multipliers, which are not available on the cheaper models.

As far as price goes they are almost being given away compared to 6-8 months ago (before Core 2 hit the scene).

Up and running. Started memcheck at 2:30 this morning and the two 1GB sticks of Crucial Ballistix are just great. No errors. No install problems on any parts.

The X2 4400+ at stock feels much zippier. I have it OC'd at 2.4GHz right now and 2.6 will be tonight when I have time to slowly and properly overclock it. It has a noticably larger amount of muscle. Not to say my 3800+ was slower... just not as beefy.

And with advice from theonejrs I have invested in an Arctic Freezer 64 Pro for $30. No heat problems. Idles at 35*C and load at about 50*C. It's still a mild OC so I expect it to hit about 53-55*C at 2.6GHz.

The M2N-Sli is a very feature rich motherboard and is much nicer than my A8N-E was. It has no FSB problems and 218FSB was easily reached for now. With HTT at 5 my RAM has no problems so far. I'll update again when I get it up to 2.6.

A freezer 64 pro, good call. Fantastic coolers, can't go wrong. Didn't even realise you could still get 4400s, must be just the UK they're getting rid of them all...

Yeah and then some. My Zalman 7000 is quiet on low voltage, but I know the freezer is a hell of a lot quieter still. Now if only I could get a quiet GPU and power supply. Those two components may well be under review with R600's launch in Spring...
