You might be able to run flight sim x, but it would be marginal. Flight sim x takes a lot of computing power and a REALLY GOOD vid card.

 

Well, the system kicks major ass. A 7600GT will do you nice. But for higher you can get a 7900GS which is a huge leap in performance and will blow your mind.

 

Well ive seen Flight SImulator X run on high on a Pentium 4 3.4ghz 1gb ram and a Geforce 6800 Ultra 256mb or is the 6800 ultra a much better card then the 7600GT?
Anyway im going to have tought time finding a 7600GT AGP version much rarer then the PCI-E version.
SO teh Pentium D is a good gaming CPU?, how much performance increase would i get with it against a 3.6ghz P4.

 

hi i am looking to buy a new mobo, with a pci-e 16x slot, 4 RAM slots and a compatible dual proccessor.
but i am not sure what dual proccessor i coudl get?

you can easily buy a motherboard with those specs for less than that, but not with a processor, or if you did it'd have to be the slowest one there is. A budget for a decent motherboard and dual core CPU is about £200 or so.

 

ASUS is one of the more user friendly boards for the beginner, plus depending on the choice, has enough options for the more advanced custom builders. Gigabyte is another quality product. Look over the choices and go for the one which best suits your needs. Those 2 brands are proven winners. There's other good boards, but some like Lan Party will accept extreme settings that can more easily damage a system. Overclock an ASUS and you normally get a shutdown if set too high. Do the same with a Lan Party and you often get smoke. Smoke is the most important component in a PC. When the smoke boils out of a computer, it's usually a goner.

Currently the Intel Core 2 Duo processors are the best for the money. Match one with a good Asus board that supports the CPU and you have the makings for a good system. ... or Gigabyte... or

 

Intel Branded Motherboards are also high quality ive had about 6 of them since 1996, and never had oen crash due to a motherboard fault.

 

Good quality yes, but I seem to recall hearing Intel boards rather lacked in features per pound/dollar compared to rival boards. I've never had a crash due to a motherboard, but i've had a few other issues...

 

The Pentium D 3.4GHz will have roughly a 15-30% advantage in multi-threaded games over the Pentium 4 3.6GHz.

It will dominate in multitasking and video work and is just plain newer.

The 7600GT is a little under a 6800Ultra. Sometimes they perform the same. Again, I recommend a 7900GS for not much more. Or a 7800GS if you have AGP.

in what will a 6800u out perform a 7600gt?

the bargin in the gpu world at the min is a 256mb x1950xt which can be had here for £110

 

The 6800 Ultra will outpace the 7600GT in Doom 3, Prey and Quake 4. Other than that, I couldn't tell you.

 

sorry man but i find that quite hard to belive, the last gen top end and the current mid range are sometimes about the same (i know im a gen out here with the 8800 and soon the r600 but) but for most new games the new tech will edge it. the only place the 68u wins over th 76gt is mem bandwidth, now this in truth only comes into play at highish resolutions where both cards will struggle to give playable framerates anyway.

3:2 for the 76gt (i could of put the outdoors test up for oblivion too and made it 4 but) and these are all on highish resolutoins where the 68 is at its strongest, drop it down to get playable framerates (1200/1000) and the advantage swings to the 76 almost across the board.

i was surprised by how well the 6800u faired on some more modren games but i dont think you are right to say its better than a 7600gt if anything its the other way around.

 

question is even if you could find a 6800 ultra why would you buy one when there are better, newer tech cards for less money?

and Asus boards shutdown if overworked?????

Iv'e searched everywhere trying to find people with "smoking" Lanparty boards but have yet to find one.
Mines 12 months old,It's been thrashed and I'm still yet to see any smoke coming from it!!

 

Because ive never used a 7600Gt but ive used a PC with a 6800Ultra about 50 times and i have yet to see a game it hasnt run on high so i know its good.
By far I think the X1900XTX is the best card ive played with now that card can run every single game on high out.
This PC im trying to get im not too sure if its PCI-E or AGP because it says the PC comes with Stock with a Geforce FX5500 256mb but the problem is i dont know because it might have PCI_E because there is a PCI version of the FX5500 so the stock card might be a PCI one i'd find it hard to belive that a Gaming computer with 2gb DDR2 of ram out of a computer store right now dosent have PCi-E.
Another thing the sotre that has this PC has Intel I945 Mainboard boxes out the front which is a newer mainboard and has PCI-E and this PC is there top in the store so im guessing it should have PCI-E.

7800GS
7900GS

i have to talk to the guy tommorow and find stuff out about this PC detailed see a few things.

Yeah well thats what i think its the currently best PC in their store and they say its a gaming one so im thnking PCI-E well their store only opened 6 months ago.

 

Now I'm a 100% sure!!!
