    Oh for heaven's sake! Make your mind up. That's very good tbh, for the price you can't do much better if you want fanless. The only other great cheap boards are the A8N-SLi SE and the A8N5X, both have fans. For fanless, yes that is the best one. Wish you'd told me you don't want crossfire, you kept going on about it!

    If history continues as theonejrs has proven, the lower conroe should have the most headroom and oc the best. I guess we shall see. Actually with all that is going on, you can really make a great "budget build" with the way cpus are dropping. But i am going to wait and see what other developments come about. I just might wait till the quad cores come out. the kentsfield is looking good for now, but it is still vaporware. At least the conro turned that corner. But to really get the best advice, i suggest talking to theonejrs, sopcoles etc.

    I know that the new CPUs are going to be MUCH more powerful. That isn't my point. I really mean to say, why have that much power? Any higher end Dual core AMD or intel is able to run any program with no problems at all. Why more power? an extra 20FPS? Isn't 120FPS already good enough? I don't like the new processor market at all! there is absolutely no sense to it.

    What I really wan't is the radeon X2000 series video cards to come out. That is where you are going to be seeing the largest performance improvement. Not processors. What? Need to encode video faster? Then get over it. If 3:00 minutes(or whatever) isn't good enough for some random 2 hour DVD then you need to pull your head out of your ass and smell the bean dip.

    And what are quad cores gonna do for us that dual cores already haven't? Speed up our programs? My CPU was about $300 when I got it. At stock speed everything on my desktop worked instantly. No wait. Why does it need to be faster? Vista you say? Well screw vista! Screw it right in the ear! I'm not gonna be worrying about the 512MB+ of memory that some overlimited OS is taking up. If I wan't 3D eyecandy I will just go play FEAR. There is all this talk about copywrite protection on vista. That screws me over if i wanna back up my CDs now doesn't it?

    Windows XP Pro is perfect for me and I like it alot. It has a clean interface and is already compatible with all my programs. I know that Halo 2 is coming out for Vista only. But If I want better graphics for HALO 2 I will put it on my 360. The textures don't need to pop in and the draw distance is awesome. Not to mention the resolution.

    I think the Market should take a break and just let the end consumer take a breather for a year. You would be surprised how many people would learn things about computers if the market just froze and let the world catch up.

    I'm done on this thread. It pisses me off!

    peace out!

    @Estuansis,
    Damn..........I'm glad Microsoft and the hardware manufacturers don't think like that.If they did,we would all be stuck at windows 95 on pentium 90s with 16mb ram and 2 meg video cards.

    TBH - to be honest
    The A8R-MVP is the best option. Don't worry I'm not irritated, but you keep switching opinions. I was going to say newegg, but wondered whether you lived in Canada or not, hence ZZF.

    Lol@estuansis, someone thinks along my viewpoint. Faster CPUs are necessary, but at the way games are going, faster GPUs aregoing to be more necessary. The Geforce 8800 or Radeon X2800 are going to hopefully be much better. I'd much rather play Halo 2 on a PC. But that means Vista, so I'd rather not play it all.

    and that'd be sufficient.

    @sammorris,
    Thats true I suppose.
    But I'm glad we've progressed a bit since then.

    Computers are a huge part of my life. I just get overwhelmed with the new technology and wish that'd it would stay the same for a while so I could get caught up. Anyone agree with me?

    It's very frustrating to be getting my X2 3800+ and have a whole new CPU coming out 2 months later. I feel like I'm being spit on. You guys have to relate to me on this.

    Also, I just unplugged my regular Xbox from the TV and plugged into a different TV. Sound is good but no picture. When I picked it up the disk was actually still spinning and I heard it winding down on the CD tray. Disk is OK and I took it out to be sure. But still no picture. Could I have damaged the video plug on my cord when pulling it out? I hope I didn't break my Xbox. Almost none of my Xbox games work on my 360. Please help.

    *breathes a huge sigh of relief* It's the cord. I think it's broken on the inside. If I straighten it out and tape it to the desk it works fine. I'm gonna get an aftermarket one from the local Gamestop anyway. Okay!

    What you've got to remember is that your 3800+ won't be getting any slower over time, so if it does all you need, then why should it bother you? lol glad you sorted you're problem, but put it in the relevant thread next time.

    Yes, It does all I'll ever need but it feels stupid to be weak compared a newer generation processor.

    And about the Xbox... closest thread at hand... lol

    Off topic- I apologize Euthanasis is your XBox modded? I have a modded PS2 and XBox, there's no going back to a standard console once you get used to a modded one. I watch movies with XBMC, play games off the HD, it's awesome. Anyway, not trying to hijack this thread, as you were gentleman.

    Oh. Sudden change of mind then? With a 20+4 on a 24 I think you can just use them both and it's alright, but I'm not sure. There are some manufacturer warnings out there that caution against that I think.
