ddp: Damn, I tried my hardest to try and phrase that that it was his parents that told him he couldn't go on this site, without talking about his bans. It didn't work.
Fihsnerd: If the old mobo was a big bottleneck as ddp says, S-ATA won't make a difference, but a defrag certainly will. Despite the apparent recent quality of the burners I stay away from BenQ stuff, I've had too much grief from them in the past. Viewsonic are excellent. True I've also hada Viewsonic monitor replaced, but I am still happy to use it, and it didn't break after 1 month like the benq cd-rw drive, it was a good 19, and they also have a 3 year on-site warranty.
The sceptre is very good, but this is of course if you want widescreen.

Yeah i want a widescreen.. but i herd that it had horrible refresh rates.. and really bad ghosting.. because i myself was lingering between that and the benQ.. did yall see the 19" benQ with the 2ms responce?? its nice..
that and my parents might be cutting me short on money. 50.00 but i was volintered to do work at my sisters school for 4 weeks, so they better not cut me short.. :)

but if the lcd is as good as you say.. hell, i will get the **** thing.. for that price it is a steel.. my mom just got a 19" lcd 210.00 and 110.00 after rebate.. hell of a rebate i know.. but it is soo F'ing big.. that makes this 19" look about the same size but.. u know.. and this has a curve on it when you are seeing somthing black.. it is quite annoying.. anyways.. i am going to try and post pictures today..

    Have Fun,

That's not true of the Sceptre X20, just a lot of widescreen monitors. However, 4:3 monitors are more suited to some purposes.

Lol by the way is that picture from ctrl-alt-del by any chance?

You'd be surprised, some boards have better layouts than others. The X850XT doesn't support 3.0, only 2.0b. Not sure about HDR, but for best performance, X1800GTO is the better option for UK people (shame it's more money in the USA).

    FISHNERD,

Some of the early ones had a tearing problem with the picture which Sceptre took care of via RMA. It's an 8ms monitor and there is no "ghosting or smearing" of any kind. At 1680x1050, its better than my old 5200 video card can deliver, at least at gaming. With a screen height of about 10 1/4" it's the same height as a 4:3 19" and over 17" wide! Great buy!!!

Even without HDR and PS 3.0 the X850XT does indeed top out the GeForce 6800 Ultra. That, and you can run forced HDR in some games:p

Very well performing card for me but I am looking at getting something better when I can scrounge up the cash. I really want an X1800XT or maybe just an XL... either way I really want to enable HDR in Oblivion. Bloom lighting is pretty but just not as drop-dead gorgeous as HDR.

Some say that HDR isn't that great and it's a waste of time to optimize for it but they just haven't used it yet. Still screenshots do HDR absolutely no justice. It's like... everything is bathed in an aura of perfect beauty.

I got to play Oblivion on my friends X1800XT based machine and it was really a treat, lemme tell ya.

So if you really want an awesome machine get an X1800GTO or a GeForce 7 series. I recommend no lower than a 7600GT and I think the 7800GT is actually great bang for your buck.

If you can you should steer clear of the GeForce 6 series. While they are decent performers a lot of games tend to not agree with their architecture... namely Oblivion... And they're also WAAAAYYYY too expensive for their performance. I think I saw a 6800Ultra a few months ago for about $450. The only one I can actually recommend for price/performance is the 6600GT and even then You have to get it below $120 for it to even be a decent deal.

Anything in the mid to high X800 series is awesome i.e. X800XL,X800XT,X850Pro,X850XT/PE.

All in the X800 series can be had for under $200 at newegg.... actualy I'm not quite sure about the X800XT... may actually be over $300 on newegg... bad pricing:p

I've just ordered myself a PC including an X1900XT (with a fair few other nicities besides) so I'll let you know what it's like. Was only going to get the GT but was told it was "discontinued" (after 2 weeks of sale???!!!) so bit the bullet and went XT with Sapphire. Can't wait. PCI express, dual core, Raptor, Ultra-violet, all these technologies hitting me at the same time!

    Estuansis,

For me, I'm stuck with AGP for a few months so it will be the X850XT because it's simpley the best AGP card on the planet!

Indeed it is. For AGP I'm amazed, I thought cards like mine would be the limit. Who needs a 7800GS? Lol.

The X1900XT? That cost me a grand £327 out of the total £1250 odd.
I would look up the 1800GTO but I can't get to newegg at the moment! It's a mere £125 over here, less than the X850XT which goes for about £140 PCIe, and £180 AGP.

i know we have gone over this.. here are the reasons i want widescreen..

    1. All my dads DVD's are widescreen..
    2. It is bigger and cooler

reasons i dont want the 20.1inch widescreen..

    1. is it worth the extra 50.00 plus 30.00 m/r.
    2. worried about gaming on the 12 pip X800GTO ..

HELP. unless their is somthing yall can think of me getting with that extra 50.00... BTW: i know this is amd vs. intel.. but thanx for all yall help..

    thanx,
