    Estuanis,
    Memory timings are an important part of performance, hence the name Performance Memory! We do not abandon anyone here as we try to help everyone. I do agree with you about the Sempron. it's not quite up to Athlon 64 standards, neither is the price and it's a much better chip than the Celeron or CeleronD!

    Back in the old days before jumperless settings, you had to physically go in and change the jumpers! UGH!! Glad those days are over. Even with jumperless, the rules that governed what you could do are still the same as when you had the jumpers. It's just easier to do now.

    I've personally OC'd a 3.0/800 Prescott to 3.84 which is about a 23% or so OC! I've also OC'd my D940 to about 20% (3808MHz from 3200) so I have a fair idea of what I'm talking about. I'm not any kind of fanboy but I do have my prefrences. I use mostly Asus motherboards as I have had very good success with them over a lot of years. I have build some MSI and Asrocks as well! I like nVidia video cards but I'm getting an ATi for this one. I build about 18 or so a year and every one is built with my customers needs in mind. If they want Intel, they get it! If they want AMD, same thing. Most of my sales are for business purposes so most of it isn't real expensive or complex. Hey, It's a living!!!

    i have no problem with my celeron 2.5ghz running 512meg, 160gig hd & win98se.

    @Estuansis,
    Sure looks closer to a celeron 340D@2.96GHZ to me.
    Heres a flame for you Good Sir:)

    @ddp,
    There is nothing wrong with celerons or semprons or electrons or protons!!!Its simply a matter of horses for courses.
    If the processor/memory/graphics/sound etc do everything you want who can say"Wow,I have a 7GHZ acme processor that does this,this or this,when you only have a 200MHZ processor and it wont do this,
    this or this".Again if your computer does what you want thats all that matters!!

    crowy,

    Christ Man, you kinda went overboard on the benchmarks. My eyes are still giggling. If you were talking about a major CPU that would be one thing, but Celerons!!! Jesus!!!

    BTW You forgot the the biggest reasons the Celerons are Dogs. Them and the regular 2.8 are 533MHz. The 2.8E is an 800MHz. The Celerons are somewhat limited by their instruction set and they suck at overclocking!

    JUst funnin with ya Bro!

    @ theonejrs,
    rofl!!!
    Just wanted to show Estuansis he was not quite correct!!
    The celerons are only dogs if they can't do what you expect of them.
    If your heavily into gaming/multi tasking then of course they would be disappointing.If you only send emails and do less cpu intensive tasks then the celerons are fine!
    P.S. Hope your eyes recover!!!
    Stare intently at this for 30 mins.
    This should help your eyes relax(LOL)!!!

    theonejrs,
    Can you do a little experiment for me.
    As you know I am interested in a tuniq 120 cpu cooler and want to know roughly how much extra cooling I can expect given the environment of my computer.
    Open up sisandra and go to hardware/processors.
    Hit processors and scroll down to your cpu wattage here:
    [IMG]

    Then multiply it by your cpu cooler thermal rating (yours is .12degrees c/w I believe in low noise mode) then add your ambient room temp.Now see if the result equals the temp of your cpu(or thereabouts).
    IE:cpu wattage x thermal rating(.12)+ ambient room temp =cpu temp.
    Thanks in advance.

    crowy,
    My version, which I prefer doesn't list the wattage. Besides it's only an estimate based on temps and frequency. The tuniq 120 cpu cooler should be as good if not better than the Zalman judging by the information I was able to find on it. It is huge and it does weigh a ton so care needs to be taken when moving the computer.

    I seem to remember in some benches you posted that your CPU voltage is quite high. All the coolers in the world won't help that as the chip will still oxidize away inside from the excessive voltage and just burn out.

    Sorry I can't help you with the math info.

    theonejrs,
    Thats ok.
    Btw,My cpu voltage is now only at 1.4 volts still at2.8ghz so only .5 volts over stock.Hopefully I wont oxidize too quickly!!!

    theonejrs,

    I just checked the tracking numbers sent by Newegg and it appears Monday should be the arrival day for the board and case.

    I hope your expecting company,I should be there soon!

    Estuansis..Thanks for the insight..You mentioned 80bucks for Processor,I had to get a new board too[GIGABYTE K8 Triton]..Both were 180bucks instaled..Don't know anything about this Brd,can I overclock it?.But the whole thing seem a little slower then what I had before AMD ATHLON 2600+,which showed 2.16GHZ This 3100+ says 1.81GHz
    I do a lot of conversions from AVI to DVD with programs like DIVXtoDVD.while this program is running it takes a good 20sec just to rename a file

    rick5446.
    Do some Sandra benchmarks for math. You should be seeing around 8300 or so MIPS. Which is P4 3.0 speeds stock!

    @theonejrs,
    Heres the benches @ 2.8GHZ.
    The memory is on a divider of 9/10 =180MHZ = 360DDR
    I find its 100% stable and the temps are good.
    The memory voltage is @ 2.8v by the way.Maybe just in the safe zone I think!!
    This memory has exceeded my expectations to get where I am now.
    Down the track I will retire it(when the price of some OCZ platinum or the like comes down.I'm sure 3GHZ with that kind of memory and a Tuniq 120 would be totally feasible.I really love this board by the way!!!
