    sammorris..Well thanks..But their must be something wrong then,cause it sure is running at a really noticeable slower pace..Just renaming a file take about 20secs,while D/L W/Bitcomet,another promlem is opening VLC,TAKES ABOUT A MIN to open[no picture],then I have to hit the back bttn to get a Video..Also while converting AVItoDVD W/DIVXtoDVD,Won't let me access the internet [timed out,try again appears]sometimes,opening E-Mail or changeing sites forget it!.Never had such problems W/my older Brd
    I don't know if I did the right thing or not!But I D/L CoolRun frm AMD,SCARED ME AT FIRST,thought I really screwed it up.Knocked my CPU back to 933MHz,until I started useing it then it jumped back to 1.8GHz.DON'T REALLY KNOW IF THIS IS GOOD or BAD.

    @theonejrs,
    I think you misunderstood me.
    I have never burned 2 dvd's at the same time either,1 coaster is better than 2.I don't think thats what cincyrob was wanting to do either.
    What I'm saying is if you have 1 dvd burner and it fails,your stuck until you get a new one

    crowy,

    I have to admit, you have a valid point. Sometimes I forget that I stock DVD-Roms and DVD Burners. Right now I have 3 Emprex 16x DVD-Roms and 2 Optorite 12x Burners available. The DVD-Roms are decent quality and I'll keep buying the Optorite DD1205 for as long as I can get them. It's a great drive that also does Hi-Density CDs at 1400MB/160 minutes on 700/80s! I've had mine more than a year and it's burned everything I threw at it! This computer is it's third home!!!

    Happy Computering,

    Why wait till August? I have not even started this project and I seek more! lol! I realized this evening that I had already used the memory planned for this build in my wife's computer,so I was forced to purchase some more low latency Corsair ram.This unfortunatly will delay my testing until Wednesday.

    Will this madness ever cease? Let's hope not!

    The madness will never cease! By the time you build this, the conroe will be out and.....your build will be history

    Everyone,
    Is'nt this a beautiful looking (albeit heavy)cooler?
    It basically knocks the s**t out of everything its put against.That mid fan design obviously works.
    Still saving!!
    $79 AUS.

    Check out the box cooler in an overclock environment it can't operate!
    Yet at 2000rpm in an overclock environment the tuniq is running 8 degrees cooler than the stock heatsink in a non overclock environment
    and 1 degree cooler at 1000 rpm.
    Thats awesome!!!!

    Heh, "Have" is a loose term. "Bought" is currently more appropriate!
    My PR may not change because i'm not altering any settings pertaining to FSB etc. I've tested when there's been different loads on the CPU at the time, giving different MIPS, but the PR has always been the same.

    Ahh, so that's what the Tuniq i've been hearing so much about looks like.
    Heh, I miss FIHSNERD too. Maybe his dad's blocked his access to aD finally, I dunno.

    @sammorris,
    Maybe his dad tried to get into cmos and the password was wrong!!!

    @crowy

    Ha! Just what I thought you'd do. Bring out clockspeed intensive tasks. If you have ever actually used a Non-D Celeron you might agree that they are way underpowered. The average budget user isn't going to care if they have to wait a few more minutes to encode/decode video and stuff.

    Screw the memory bandwidth, real world performance is where it's at bucko! That Sempron 3100+ performed(especially in games) like a Pentium 4 2.8E GHz. We are talking a budget solution here. You aren't ever going to build a rig meant for heavy video work with a $77 processor. That is actually what the higher grade P4's are meant for, intensive tasks. Trust me, I've done my homework on the budget sector.

    And guys, I know that memory timings are very important to performance. I just meant that everyone stopped for a split second and kind of blabbered off a short explaination that only partly answered the guy's question. And then you just went back to your other stuff like he disappeared. This community is made for discussion, but also for help. So no insult to memory enthusiasts out there.

    @Estuansis,
    So why are celerons an insult then?bucko??
    Sounds like you may have failed on your homework on the budget sector.

    Heh, then he'd really be screwed!
    The trouble is, it's not all that easy to get a good idea of how good the celeron CPU is, because it's usually paired with not enough RAM, it makes a slow computer. The CPU isn't too bad, but the usual 256MB of accompanying RAM is what does the damage. Anyone who's had a system like this upped to 512 or more should know that the celeron isn't too bad, and have a completely different opinion of it compared to others. Semprons are probably much the same, but the 64-bit variants tend to be found with 512MB now, especially the 3100+ so it's not as easy to compare, other than by, say numbers, which is why the benches that were posted are still useful.

    crowy,

    I find the comparison interesting in that there's no CPNS9500-LED listed. Seems like they didn't want anybody to know that the 9500 performs just as well. It's bonus of course, is a lot less weight for the same performance. I'm not about to hang a "dumbell" on my CPU socket and MB. I certainly wouldn't have one here, what with earthquakes and such. I've already seen my Monitor and computer sway 8 to 10 inches during one and I don't want that kind of weight being tossed around like that inside my computer. Not to mention that the Tunig's weight exceeds the side load limits for any MB. It's just too damn heavy!! and that's before you install the fan. Tunig doesn't tell you how much it weighs with the fan installed. Not only that, where the fan is mounted just contributes even more to the lever effect on the MB! The Zalman 9500 is the better cooler all around!!!

    Wow, that's one thing we don't have,the only tremors we get here are either from my sub, or the force feedback on my steering wheel (which has made my monitor wobble a good inch or two!!!) I assume I'd be safer with the 7000Alcu I've chosen?

    sorry, i am full of smileys today.. :)
    thats o.k. as soon as i get my new conroe system.. this computer is going to be my bitch. Because.. then he cant say anything.. LOL
    but that will be at christmas or somthing.. whatever..
    sorry i have been playing battlefront 2 lately.. the image works great too.. seams like everything rusn faster when i have it on the harddrive compared to it running on the disk..

    @Sammorris,
    ...Thats a very good point.

    FIHSNERD,
    Good to see you back.
    Hows the computer.

    @theonejrs,
    ...Not quite sure what you mean there?If the fan was mounted on the top then I would agree.If my computer was swaying 8-10 inches during an earthquake(which fortunately we are'nt succeptible to here)I would be more concerned about the house than my computer LOL!!!
    The weight of this thing is a couple of grams short of 1kg.
    Yes that is nearly double what the board manufacturers recommend,however withsome strategically placed bracing the weight on the motherboard will be negligible:)
    Here is the tuniq compared to the other top coolers including the 9500.
