    To All,

Well, I just had to play some more. I think I improved it because it cut 6 minutes off of my RB/CCE process. I ripped, Prepped, Encoded, Re-Build and burn in under 2 hours. After being used to 3 hours + on my Prescott, this is a slice of heaven!!!

Anyway, I went into the setup and locked the memory at 400MHZ so now the memory runs at 475MHz instead of 396MHZ. I changed the memory timings to 2.5-4-4-6 and it runs great. I also increased the CPU voltage to 1.375v.

I gave up a couple of MIPS, but still above 20,000 and gained a whole lot of memory bandwidth. Seems to run good. Case temps went up a few degrees because the memory is now overclocked so it's running hotter. Multi-Media stayed almost the same. Did a quick Prime95 run on it for a few hours with no errors. I'll run it overnight and see what it does.

    Happy Computering,

    theonejrs,

Nice to hear your still experimenting with your Prescott.I am finishing up with my build right now...well sort of.I won't get the new memory until tommarrow, but I did stick in a single 512 stick for now.If I only could get this thing to boot properly I'd start doing some testing.Even though I reformatted the hard drive it still thinks it's got xp home and pro and asks me which o/s to log onto.Home edition is no longer there! I installed Pro on the hard drive! Any suggestions?

    Boxwrench,
Nope, it's my D940. I'm still waiting on Fedex to get here with my CPU Cooler bracket for my Prescott.

    Your problem is simple.
To specify the default operating system for startup:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
    Open System in Control Panel.
On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
Under System startup, in the Default operating system list, click the operating system you want to start when you turn on or restart your computer. Choose your new OS (XP-Pro)
Select the Display list of operating systems for check box, and then type the number of seconds you want the list displayed before the default operating system starts automatically. Just make it 0 seconds for XP-Home and you won't see it again.

    theonejrs,

Thanks for the info,I already got that sorted(with a little help) but now to my newest problem. Why can't I adjust the fsb? I have ai booster set to manual,I can highlight the speed but it won't allow me to adjust it.What do you think?

    ***update***
Using ai boost I now have the fsb@960,the cpu@3601.22 and the temp is at 45c!All the other settings are where you suggested.

    OK!!!
Finally got back from my Daughters school carnival(she got a first in 100m and third in 200m so I,m quite proud of her!!)
Well, all went according to plan last night.
Here's the result I had been hoping for!!!!!
The voltage on the AMD utility is wrong its actually 1.475v.
Doesnt matter what I set the voltage to in bios it always shows 1.4 with this utility??
Results removed for the benefit of the non believers.

    Boxwrench,

Forget that silly Ai Booster and use the real settings in the setup. Yes it takes more time but the results are way better. In the setup you can adjust everything!!! Besides, Ai Booster teaches you nothing and it won't usually run at 20%!!!

    theonejrs,

I got it! I did'nt notice the +/- deal for changing the fsb speed,I kept hitting enter and waiting for the options to appear(that's the way my Asus/AMD system works) so now I have the cpu speed @220mhz.It's running @43c and cpu @3.3ghz.
I just needed to get a feel for this new bios...it's the same only different.lol! You were correct about this board,I noticed the difference in speed almost immediatly, though a fresh xp install probably helped also.I'll do some more tinkering tomorrow after I install the new memory.

    Almost forgot...Thanks for your help!

    boxwrench,

Congradulations, I'm glad you figured it out. yuo will have to refresh my memory. What CPU are you using? I've just forgotten. I know the MB but the CPU escapes me (too many around here to keep up with).

    Enjoy your new toy!

Oh, ands you are most welcome!

soph hasn't disowned us, he's disowned aD to be at DVDHounds. Maybe you should join!

Boxwrench: Boot profile? Maybe you should do a repair, that might clean it up!

Peanuts: Yes I do know what the conroe is like. Wait until the day after the conroe is launched, then buy an AMD. :D

    theonejrs,

The processor is an Prescott 3.0/800 with h/t.currently running @3.3 ghz. and steady @43c.

    sammmorris,

I reformatted the drive and installed xp pro.It originally had home edition on it,even after the reformat it was asking what o/s I wanted to boot to...situation resolved in start-up & recovery.
