You mean the other way round? You can get 500 from a 350, not the reverse!

    @sammorris,
No,I mean 350 from a 500.This is just a rule of thumb to allow for psu manufacturers that over rate there psu's.Im talking 350 watts @100% duty cycle. As you can see from theonejrs post, his 480 shuts down @478.So if you bought that supply expecting to draw 480 watts @100% its not going to work.Plus when you start really loading a power supply up towards it's maximum rating, thermal cutouts start happening and off goes your box.So deduct 30% from your psu's rating and you should be able to draw that wattage 24/7.

    Yeah, I don't need 580W here.

Asus True-Power 550 watt here seems to be just fine

oh BTW i got my temp problem fixed this is how the Lian LI is suppose to be setup ,both the case fans (front and rear) pull air into the case ,the Zalman blows air to the front of the case and theres a side fan that blows air on the video card and dissipating the air heres the link to explain it and pics

    aabbccdd,

I noticed earlier you mentioned your 7900 ran hot. My 6800GS sometimes reached 83ºC but after putting an Arctic Cooling Accelero X1 on it I haven't seen the temps go past 65ºC even after a couple hours of FEAR or Quake 4. It was pretty easy to install, is dead silent and only ran me $32 but I see newegg has a $10 instant savings on it right now,

Yeah I heard the Acceleros are good. However, I'm actually surprisingly satisfied with the stock X1900 cooler on my XT despite people saying it's loud and doesn't cool well. The fact is, it is quiet and does cool well if you have decent case ventilation, so for me, it's great!

So instead of air in the front, out the back, with help in the middle from the side fans like a normal expected set-up, you had to reverse engineer and dig deeper into the support FAQ's. Nice case, but I hate unexpected surprises. I havent hooked up my front panel Firewire due to the fact it came as 12 seperate wires (not labeled with the same names as my board manual specifies) instead of wired to the clip. My Soundblaster has a port so it doesnt bother me functionally, but theres always that little voice in the back of your head saying its not done yet. your work is not complete.perfect, everything must be perfect.

aabbccdd, it's actually not a case fan. It replaces the stock hsf on the vid card :)

Yep, all too often I end up scrabbling round on the carpet! People moan and grizzle about two-slot GPU coolers, I love it, less case ventilation issue, or none at all!

yeah Deadrum33 its design is def different but the case is vented everywhere around it so it makes sence. my system temps are down running at 46c idle and with that fan Nephilim linked me it will even be better. great info here!!

god that thing is a beauty.. does anyone play americas army?

btw: this 6200 is running idle in the mid 50's and can get to the high 70's? what do i do.. my computer is saying that my memory is low?? WFT???

    what does that mean?

america's army? I gave it a try but there was some glitch that wouldn't let me complete the obstacle course and I couldn't play online because of that. I just play battlefield 2

ya, it is hard to get used to.. the glich was when you try to get ontop the really tall thing that the netting you have to acrawl down..

the cpu fan is pulling the air away from the cpu? so i swiched my fan to help that pull air out of the case and i put my big fan so that it just puts air in.. it is facing the back towards the power supply BTW: the Uguru or whatever said that i am running at 1.47 and the cpuZ sais i am running at 1.4??? WTF? and i am running at 35C her and all i am running is internet and the abit and cpuz?

btw: i had to reset the bios.. i set the password as password.. so now i can get in... but i had to because my system hanged when i got it to 2.7 on the Uguru software.. and i could not go in and change it so i had to reset the jumpers..

O well... hopefully he wont find out.. right now i am planning on running at 2.4, but only after i find out what the problemb is... and i am not going to press my luck on the cpu speed.. btw: does it matter if my dad smothers the cpu in the thermal compound?

    thanx,
    fihsnerd
