Intel vs. AMD

It is 2 millions DOLLARS of stock allready on hand. I left that out and never edited it.
Also I'm not going to build till after the first of the year or when the snow flies. SO by then the quad cores will be out and who knows
As far as right now I would be leary of a conrow build, as the mother boards are really not capatiable yet. So I want to so the mobo's get better first.. and what is PECI? If the board does not have that, it will not even boot or post.

 

FIHSNERD ,the amd2(FX-62) isnt going to be much of a perforance gain i would wait till the amd3 came out. just upgrade what you have now the 939 socket is going to be around a long time and will still be good in 2 or 3 years down the road. the amd 3800x2 is really going to be the best bang for the buck with the price drop down to 170.00 dollars or just bit the bullet and get the 1meg cache core like i did . the amd Opteron 175 Demark i got is great and i dont regreat spending 500 dollars on it at all.

Today is supposed to be the day AMD cuts the prices 30 to 50% on [bold]all[/bold] the dual cores. With Intel delaying the "Official Corporate Release" until the 27th. AMD may have to hold off a few days!

It's a huge gamble, but then again, with the reported drops in profits and sales from intel, and AMD expected to follow, maybe we need some alliances. ATi won't want intel after being shunned with crossfire on 975.

Well, anything's possible, but don't forget GPU cores are specialised, you can'tr just shove a desktop CPU in there, why do you think software rendering is so slow?

 

which one is better the amd x2 3800 or the amd x2 4200?

 

HEY... the 3800 is a 2.0 and the other is a 2.2 they each have a 512cache per core.. basiclly 2 vinice cores stacked...

I plan on getting the 3800 duel core... but is it worth it..
my parents will by the 3700 at stock speed's and my old video card for 120.00 and i have like 60 left over.... i cant quite get the 1 with 1mg per core... but i am thinking of saving up? any sudjestions?

 

Well if you want instant power, get the 3800+. But you won't notice a performance difference until you overclock because at 2.4GHz your 3700+ would outpace it by far.

 

i plan on overclocking it to 2.5 or 2.6 or somthing like that... but other than that how do you like the setup?? we are ordering tonight or tomorrow...
