interlaced avi to svcd do i need to deinterlace?

    i have captured my hi8 video and it is interlaced and i want to encode to svcd to view on tv on dvd player all i wanna know is do i need to deinterlace it or will it view ok on tele. cheers
    also i capture in 640-480 should i be making svcds or vcd cheers.

    You shouldn"t have to deinterlace because TV"s are made to display Interlaced Video, But if the Field order gets reverced then you will have Jumpy Playback on your TV so if you are useing say Tmpgenc to encode your File to SVCD then you should load the File into tmpgenc useing the Wizard, Because the Wizard analizes your File for the correct field order and sets it correctly, But if you do not use the WiZard it will not be set to the correct setting...And yes you should use SVCD because of it"s Higher Quality.....Cheers
