I have a windows Vista PC with IE9 loaded and when try to open the IE program i get "windows error" message saying the program has encountered a problem and must close down.I cannot get on the IE program to "reset" the settings as it closes down. The program is corrupt after a virus.Although i have loaded firefox on the same PC and works perfect I would like to repair the explorer but it closes down before I can try and repair.
It is IE9 i do know.
There must be damaged files somewhere ,any help appreciated thanks.

Have you tried a System Restore to a point before the Virus?

IE is just not one of those programs that you can uninstall. But, maybe, a reinstall of the program will help. You can download IE9 from MS.

Have you considered moving from Vista? Try Win 7, it is good. I would avoid Win 8 like the plague. I consider 8 the "New Vista".

Control panel clicked main internet options then advanced,reset.!!!sorted.

Ive done something similar before where i had to delete updates for IE and go back to IE 8,but thankfully this was not as bad.
