internet jacking

    i was on a website which perhaps i shouldn't have been.. anyway, it's made my internet dial-up number, an international one, i know how to fix it temporarily, but each time i disconnect or restart my pc, it goes back to the international number. does anybody know how to fix this permanately? thanks

    goto internet options in control panel, click on connections, click on your provider(default???)than settings & properties & change it in there. you either have a virus(more likely) or spyware(possible). run an antivirus & antispyware on your system

    yeah, thats what i've done, and it's only a temporary fixture.. i'll try my anti virus thing though..

    norton anti virus... it's just scanning now..

    you could also try running spybot search and destroy and ad-aware

    also goto www.antivirus.com & do the free online scan to confirm norton has either found or got rid of the virus(es???)

    ok, i'm downloading the spybot one,and norton is still doing it's thing. will the spybot one get rid of the international phone number permanately?
    sorry, i really don't know what i'm doing.. i'm a 19 year old chick, and computers aren't my specialty..

    Sounds like you have got the old xxxdialer, my you are a bad boy cath. Run a program called adware 6 from lavasoft and spybot search and destroy, Then say ten hail mary's and 50 our father's. My son got the same dialer awhile back, I felt like wearing his butt out. He just did without the internet for a month instead. I wish I were a violent man sometimes!!!

    i kinda figured you were a 19 year old chick by your nickname. spybot gets rid of spyware but i think you have a virus possible trojan or worm

    ok askyew! youcaught me out...my boyfriend was away, i was bored, so i looked up porn! but it's not fair that it did that to my pc.. i just want to fix it!

    it didn't work, but i think the spybot thing might have fixed it... hopfully

    disconnect & also restart pc seperately to see if problem resolved

    You might want to download a free program called RegScrubXP from majorgeeks.com found here http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2048.html
    and run it before you connect to the internet again after you have run the spyware program.
