    My Mcfee 2005 has expired.
I have seen Zonealarm 2007 security suite and Mcfee 2007 for £25 from Amazon. Whitch is better ? or is the free stuff just as good.

    Cheers Shug.

Also I have to uninstall Mcfee 2005. I have heard its a bit tricky at times.

By all accounts there are MANY free apps out ther that equal or better the retail varietys. Try this link for freeware apps.

    http://www.filehippo.com/

I've used the following, with good results.
    Ad Aware Personal 1.06
    AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5.0.50
    Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4

Norton is a tricky little devil to uninstall, they even have a free removal tool to do it! maybe mac does too?

    Cheers.

@kateman, Thanks heaps for the thread link, saved and will use it accordingly.I also try to keep things in house if possible.

    Your comment,

Why the worst? It may not be the definative in protection as most users will attest to, but surely it has some redeeming features?
    Further comments/experiences/suggestions welcome. :)

    Cheers.

nope, nope definatly not. it can slow down some people's computers. is hardly ever up-to-date with some of the latest threats. and misses sooooooooooo many infections. i have looked at so many hijackthis logs and EVERYONE that had norton, had some kind of problem!

Well I have said in the past that, you either love it or hate it!
It's nice to know you haven't made up your mind yet...LOL

Avast is one that I installed just yesterday, I'll give it a go and see how it performs. There's also one or two others installed like the suggestions made to shug119 (hope your listening still).

These guys that create freeware apps to keep our systems secure, are in my view absolute champs. The mind boggles when a freeware picks up nasties that shareware can't/doesn't?

Let's hope we all make the right choices, and that we don't keep all our eggs in one basket.

    Cheers.

Kateman,It must be just my sense of humour. I made a simple observation that I thought was humourous, but it wasn't perhaps put in the best possible way. I unresevedly appologise if this comment has offended in any way. I'll make better efforts in the future. :)
