Yeah, that whole step is weird. I "Patch" but nothing seems to upload to my ipod.

It's a pretty much instant process, it should say 'Success' or something similiar afterwards. But if iHack isn't working for you try using the downgrade firmware button in iPod Wizard.

I appreciate the help DarkJello, but that seems to do nothing also. Here's a detailed post of what I do:

    1. Open "iPod Wizard"
    2. Click "Open Updater", load the 2005-11-17 updater.
    3. Select my iPod (iPod Photo)

That loads the edited theme to the iPod Updater. Downgrading the firmware then lets you use your iPod Updater that you just edited to 'Update' your iPod to having the different firmware. Without the iPod Wizard/iHack firmware downgrade you would have to restore which means adding your music back to your iPod which is time consuming.

Just download an older version of the firmware, restore your iPod, and continue modding.

I haven't used a 5.5g yet so I wouldn't know of any changes, however, I'm running 1.2v firmware and can still mod it as per normal..

So basically, in order to put themes on the ipods i have to downgrade my firmware back to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 or something? is that because the updater for 1.2 is built into itunes and u cant select it in ipodwizard or is there some way to get themes onto an ipod with 1.2?
p.s what is a 5.5G ipod? is that that new batch of video ipods apple released along with the new nanos etc?

i was reading about on ipodwizard and such and i gathered that you could not do it with the 5.5g yet. i think i will need to wait for ipodwizard 2 or 1.3 or whatever

All right, i read strait through this thread and noone has exactly this problem:
I will click patch several times in ihack, choose my ipod and it will say it was succesful. But i can't update with my updater, only restore.

So, i try with Downgrade firmware in iPW. I click it several times, i exit. And i can't update my ipod, only restore.
Ive done this several times to the point were it tells me my firmware before is: .00008000 and after is .00008000 and i still cant update it. Updater tells me its up to date.

    PLZ HELP!

Yes i was using firmware v. 1.2 so i tried downloading the 1.0 firmware Lethal_B mentioned in the first page, but it keeps telling me "the attached ipod model is not supported by this application". Ive tried the 1.0 firmware from several webcites and they all say the same after i install them.

    :/

This might have something to do with the problem; i restored (cause ihack didnt work) my ipod with a new theme when i was using version 1.2

    This is confusing.

I downloaded Itunes 7 now and it has an automatic updater (1.2 obviously) and it updated my ipod and i no longer have the previous theme. But, i dunno where this updater is to select it with iPW...? The other updaters will now tell me "invalid ipod service version".

Sooo, without knowing where the updater that itunes 7 is using (how do i change this) i cant select it to downgrade (assuming ihack would work afterward).

SOO, what i think i need to do is: make itunes 7 use ipod updater 1.0, and know where it is that it gets installed to (so that i can load it in iPW). Then do I upgrade from 1.2 to 1.0??? And then i downgrade 1.0 so that i can update it again with a theme....

Sryy if this is a little confusing but i havnt the faintest idea where to begin.

[bold]Edit:[/bold] I got it to work, ignore my post.

yes! i know! do what i say and you shall succeed.

unless you have 1.2 firmware, then all you do is put the theme directly on to the ipod.

    (u cant put a theme on a 5.5g ipod) -- just encase
