site might be on borrowed time as just found out from another moderator about this.
"I read in the financial news a while back that AD's bankruptcy application was rejected. I don't know anything else about it."
I wonder how long site has left?

AD has done a number of articles on other companies going bankrupt, but I haven't seen anything that pointed directly to AD. I just ran a traceroute on AD to see if I could locate how it's being served. The site is hosted by UpCloud ltd out of Finland with a hop through a couple of other EU nations.
so while the costs could run anywhere from $200 U.S to three or four times that, it wouldn't be enough to bankrupt anyone unless they have no other source of income. So I somehow don't think AD's overhead is enough for someone to declare bankruptcy, because even at its slowed pace it still comes up fairly fast in search results and that means it's earning some income to offset costs.

I do not know as just reporting what a Finn mod told me as he is having problems getting in contact with site admin about banning a member here more then a year.

The website does appear to indicate that AD is struggling but I think we all know that. On a positive note, if I read the graph right there was an upturn in 2022.

The graph doesn't measure member recruitment, it measures profit vs overhead. Profit is probably made from ad hits. Right now this is the traffic "Total: 707 (members: 2, guests: 667, robots: 38). That means there are 667 viewers who're not members or Spider bots. If there were ads that could mean hits but I don't see any ads so that's a bit odd.

I have never seen ads on the forum page, regardless of browser. I see them on Home, News, etc.

Unless you're using an ad blocker where you will see ads is on the homepage. The first ad was for car insurance. I clicked it then back out, reloaded and a new Google ad appeared.

I used Chrome to see the ads, I was logged in, Firefox blocks them. This the ad that was up just now.

I get ads using chrome when on Finnish site due to chrome's language translator.

When you check the homepage here on AD were you logged in? It's possible that dRD set it in AD CP so that some groups won't see the ad. Sort of like hidden forums that only mods and above can see.

Not being logged into the homepage and forum means the homepage is an add on and not a part of Glenforo. They share links but are not fully connected.
