is ddr2 worth it?

Is ddr2 really worth buying? I've seen benchmarks and numbers are only higher by a point or two. AMD isn't going to pick up the technology until 2006 and I want to build a computer that will last a while. If I do choose DDR2 I really limit the motherboard choices. One more question, is there any motherboard comparable to the P4P400SE deluxe but with LGA775?

I would totally build an AMD if they had DDR2, does it matter? What kind of performance gains will there be when AMD goes DDR2?
