Okay, let me point this out. WHAT THE HELL? IS THAT GUY CRAZY? A GeFORCEFX5200! HA! For the real point. The X series for ATI is actually awesome! The speed is incredible. The Nvidia Cards, though, are good, and are considerably faster, but PCI Express has ought to get even better. From the Benchmarks, Nvidia was cheating, and so was ATI, but only temperarly. I have an ATI Radeon 9600xt, and it's amazing. I get average 60 frame rates per second in Halo, and it goes above lots of times. My PC sucks, but my games are pretty fast. Stick to it, your not making a bad choice. Price, well, that's something else. Try to find it as cheap as you can. Also, for new video card users, never buy a GeForceFX 5600 or lower (well, maybe 5600). Also, never buy an ATI Radeon 9200 or lower, or ATI Radeon SE or LE edition cards. Always get original, XT, or Pro. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Compaq (ugh) Has been Bios Flashed, and Formatted (so no more compaq) 1.4 ghz AMD Athlon XP 1700+ (ugh) ATI Radeon 9600 xt 120 MB (joy) 80 Gig HardDrive Direct X 8.1 Surround Sound AC'97 Sound Card 24x Cd Burner, 48x CD Reader[/small]
Not everyone has $10000 in their left coat pocket. If you're talking about the X800 yea. Anything else you should go back and check the specs again. Nothing is close to beginning to saturate AGP8X steady so PCIX is a on-paper advantage. Much like nVidia's support for Pixel Shader 3.0 and ATI's lack of it. Benchmarks can swing either way you know... visit ATI's site and then visit nVidia's site. Again, not everyone's got tons of cash lying around
Predator, I know not many people have lots of cash, but there are places on the internet (like ebay) where you can get things very cheap.
Yes but consider that not everyone has a CC so ebay would be a difficult endevour. Like me for instance, I want a CC with a $100 cap but they wont give me one (bastards) so i dont use a CC. Also, dont forget that after forking out several hundred dollars for mobo, ram, hdd, proc and stuff, forkin out $100-$200 for a video card isnt neccesarily on everyone's top ten list. I'm not sayin you're outright wrong or nothin and I'd reccomend the same thing ... just adding some perspective (from very personal experience at that).
Would you belive i got my system (with a Palomino2100, only 240GB and a Ti4400 -- but it had nice videoIn) for $871.16CAD (that's just over $650USD for you yanks readin this )
Built it myself. Bought it August 26 2002. Been going to this small computer store for like 10 years now. Spent over $25K there getting parts and selling them. I can pretty much walk in, tell him what i want and what im willing to pay and as long as im not stupid about it, i can pay and leave.... works a lot better than ebay or newegg or whatnot
even if you did have access to websites like ebay.com...most of the time sellers arent willing to ship outside the US. even if they were willling...shipping costs a buttload lol.
